4.0 out of 5 stars you like bread?, August 27, 2005
By
This review is from: Zwilling J.A. Henckels Twin Signature 8-Inch Bread Knife (Kitchen)
if you like bread and don't cut it 24h hours a day, buy this knive instead of the 4 star version.

why?

- the twin select are nice sharp knives

- it is a bread knive, you don't use it so often like a chef knive!

- the handling is fine

- it's cheap

I own 2 twin selects and 4 4 stars. And must say the handling of fourstar is better and you want to have the filet knive or chefs knive from this series, or better some japanese knieve ( way sharper, but hard to maintain, I'm lazy), but for cutting bread, go with this one, the handling is not so important for cutting bread, and it does'nt squeeze my ciabatta or french bread!

I sent this knife to my son who is a baker by profession--he loves this knife. It doesn't mash the bread and cuts through crusty crusts! I higly recommend it to anyone.

5.0 out of 5 stars Worth the investment, March 8, 2009

If you're not a professional chef, then this is probably the most expensive bread knife you've ever looked at. But if you slice bread (or, say, watermelon) on a daily basis, it will quickly pay for itself. It's sharp, has a good feel, and will last a very long time. If you only slice bread occasionally, then you might want to consider the J.A. Henckels International bread knife instead.

Was pleased that the Henckel Twin Signature Bread Knife met the quality and craftsmanship expected of this manufacturer. Cuts easily thru bread and is excellent for slicing tomatoes and onions. Excellent buy

4.0 out of 5 stars New Knife Cuts Clean, October 6, 2011
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Zwilling J.A. Henckels Twin Signature 8-Inch Bread Knife (Kitchen)
Like all new knives, this one was very sharp and cut right through crusty bread with ease. We were looking for a serrated blade that was like a saw but those seem to be either way too expensive or not carried by Amazon. The last one we had cost $6 and cut everything well for over 15 year before the 1" tine finally came out of the handle. Other wavy edge knives we've had like this one eventually dull and are nearly impossible to resharpen. If you cannot get a saw edge blade, my advice is to spend as little as you have to on this style.

4.0 out of 5 stars Excellent Bread Knife, September 6, 2011

Both this as a gift for a family member and have had occasion to use it at their house. The knife is excellent, and a good value. It outperforms cheaper knives while still being far less expensive than some options.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great Bread Knife!, July 31, 2011

I can say that I'm very happy with this bread knife. I'm really not qualified to review it as a professional might, but I can give you my simple opinion and observations as someone who uses a bread knife a couple of times a week:

* Nice and sharp - cuts bread very well without "squashing" it
* Comfortable handle
* Dishwasher safe
* Very nice quality for the price

I'm considering to buy one more so I always have one clean.

I got this along with the five piece set and I'm very satisfied. These are the first "nice" knives that I've purchased and they cut extremely well and are very comfortable to use.

I like this knife and would buy more of this brand. Cheaper version tore my homemade bread or crumbled it to bits. Not this one.
