Bought this direct from CenturyLink. Wired is OK, but wireless is a nightmare. I saw the bit about choosing a channel rather than letting it automatically select. I chose many channels and many security settings. I could make two or three wireless devices work at one time but never all four. This has never been a problem before. I called CenturyLink, and they said they couldn't help me set up the wireless devices. They could only confirm that the wireless was "green light" on their system. Yikes. Appreciate any suggestions for a replacement.

Update: I did update the firmware as some reviewers here suggested and that has resolved the wireless issues. Note: CenturyLink Tech support made NO mention of firmware. I still get awful quality of service based on ping and jitter times, but that is likely an issue with CeunturyLink. I upgraded my score from one star, but I have to ding the company. The first thing the instructions should tell you to do after connecting should be to check for a firmware update! This was a huge time sink, and it shouldn't have been.

Of all the modems I've ever used this one is a challenge. The Ethernet side of it is great. It trains up and runs well. The internet comes right up. The wireless side is another story. Of the three wireless devices in this house only one would connect. I disabled the WPS and run only WPA. Double and triple checked the security phrase. Still can't connect wirelessly. Checked the power level and verified the security phrase in the modem GUI. Everything was correct. Refreshing the adapters doesn't do a thing. Changing the channel select from "auto" to other channels helped. I finally got everything connected. It appears that something about the auto channel select isn't right. I hope there's a firmware upgrade to fix this.Once I made the channel change it's been fine.

This is a terrible, terrible modem. Port forwarding is a pain in the butt, and most of the time it does not forward correctly. Each port forwarded will have to be done separately if they are not consecutive ports and you must save settings between each port added. It takes far too long to do if you need to forward several non consecutive ports. As if that werent bad enough, it doesnt actually open the ports.

I eventually had to bridge this modem and run everything through my Linksys WRT54 old as dirt workhorse router.

This modem is a great example of everything wrong with CenturyLink- Nice and shiny, but doesnt work worth a crap!

This Dsl Modem is pure junk it drops the connection request to the dsl network several times a day this is the 4th modem from Centrylink, if you have problems with it don't contact support because they will always say that there is no problem with the modem that all the problems are with your computers and tablets.

It can work great, but usually doesn't. More then half of the time the wifi will slow down to an absolute crawl. And it will periodically just disconnect my wireless devices. Very frustrating! Looks like I am not the only one having this problem either.

Switched back to my almost 10 year old G router and it works WAY better then this one.

I recently "upgraded" to the PK5001Z and have had nothing but issues with it, especially when it comes to gaming. This router is notorious for packet loss which will cause you to be disconnected from servers and unable to join them for anti-cheating/security reasons. I had to manually set the radio channel in order for the wireless to run properly and have spent countless hours just to make this thing useful. DO NOT BUY!

OMG - how I wish I had read these reviews! I have a home office - CL just replaced my older 660 with this piece of $@&*. How many hours have I spent troubleshooting to get it to stay connected, see my laptops etc., update firmware, tech support etc.. In the box all they give you is a simple little 3 step card to get you going. Yeah - going somewhere else. Ain't nobody got time for dat. Very unhappy customer.

I got Centurylink DSL in AZ about a year and a half ago. NO PROBLEMS, that is, using the older style Actiontec modem and NOT the Zyxel PK50001Z. Ordered DSL from CL at another location and got the PK5001Z and have had nothing but trouble. Worst part is, the techs at CL are totally clueless about what a piece of junk this modem really is. Or maybe they know it but just aren't admitting it. It will only accept one device-so far, it's been impossible to have more than one device connected to the internet. I can connect fine wirelessly with just one device. But when I connected via ethernet to download and upgrade the firmware, the modem won't recognize my laptop. CL is sending a new one, but I have little faith this will solve the problem. What a horrible way to treat loyal customers.
