Zydeco Steamboats Upriver to Ohio,

I came across this cd on a general search for some new-to-me zydeco. I was especially intrigued when I saw the unforgetable Loudon Wainright's "Dead Skunk" listed. I thought what a great song to do a zydeco version of. I sampled it and some others and took a shot. Boy am I glad that I did! This band truly loves zydeco and it comes across when you hear the whole cd. My personal favorites are "Dead Skunk" (of course), "Hey Trudy", and "Goodbye My Girl", but the whole cd is terrific.

We saw them last night, playing for free in front of the Euclid Public Library. A great show. I expect it might be even better with a few beers. And we bought the CD. Have been listening to it all morning. Most interesting cover of Dead Skunk. Iko Iko is great as well. Not sure about the vocals on Hey Trudy. Fiddle player does the vocals on this song, and she does a good job, but nothing spectacular. Good value, good driving CD.
