5.0 out of 5 stars Information about this vhs - Zydeco Gumbo!, October 2, 2007
This review is from: Zydeco Gumbo [VHS] (VHS Tape)
Zydeco Gumbo Starring CLIFTON CHENIER and John Delafose, Boo Zoo Chavis, Terence Semian and Willis Prudhomme. A video by Dan Hildenbrandt. Take a little R & B, a dash of Cajun, and a healthy dose of Creole accordian and scrubboard, and you've got a spicy gumbo of Zydeco. From the old dance halls-like Richard's Club in Lawtell and Slim's-Y Ki-Ki in Opelousas to the Zydeco Festival in Plaisance - This tape features the hottest zydeco performers in South-Western Louisiana. Boo Zoo Chavis, John Delafose, Terance Semian, Lil Jeff Boutte, Willis Prudhomme, Sam Brothers 5, Andrus Espre(Beau Jocque)& The Zydeco Straits, plus the King Of Zydeco, which Mr. Clifton Chenier taped at the '87 festival - just 3 months before he passed away. His tearful performance of I'm Comin'Home moves with the love of his people and his music. Interspersed between performances are interviews with local musicians, D.J.'s, Fans, and club owners explaining the Zydeco tradition. Spice up your life with a little Zydeco Gumbo taped on location in Southwest Louisiana. "Where the Crawfish got soul, and the Alligators sing the blues" Mr. Clifton Chenier. 1988 Color 28 Minutes A Rhapsody Films Release.
