The best garlic press available,

I've used many a garlic press in my culinary career and most of them were terrible. This one is sensational (if such a thing can be said about such a humble implement). Easy to use and clean, it produces maximum garlic output even from unpeeled cloves. I'm buying a new one because the cleaning tool fell into the clutches -- jaws, actually -- of the puppy and perished.

Using a Garlic Press is a great way to partake in teh pleasures of Garlic, but the cleaning of these things is the downfall. The cleaning device that accompanies this press makes the cleaning almost a breeze.

THere's a lot to like about this garlic press. It's a great timesaver: just pop the cloves in, skins and all and out pops crushed garlic. Much faster than peeling and chopping, and you get all the valuable juice from the garlic as well. This jumbo sized model is an improvement over the original (which I've used): large cloves can go straight in without needing to halved first. And smaller cloves can go in 2 at a time. Finally, the cleaning tool makes cleaning the holes of the press a snap.
This does take a bit of strength to operate, so those with very small hands or arthritis may not be able to use this well. But if that's not a concern, you can't go wrong with this press.

Love it!,

It has made my cooking so much faster and more efficient! I can't believe I used to chop the stuff by hand. If you've got a REALLY strong hand grip, it also works for mincing ginger root btw. :-)

This press truly does produce crushed garlic without having to peel the cloves first. One note of caution: if you load in too many cloves, it is very difficult to press. It works best when the emptied skins are cleaned out of the press each time.

The Zyliss does not bend or break. It's the best press I've ever possessed. Large unpeeled cloves may require strong pressure, but they finally yield without busting your press. (To reduce the effort required, use smaller, fresher garlic. Or you can cut stubborn cloves into pieces.)

As usual the Swiss come through. The Swiss don't make junk, they never did. They stake their reputation as a country on their manufacturing quality. This is simply one small example of what they are capable of. This thing works great, I have extra large hands and I can't break it. In these days of endless Chinese junk products, it's refreshing to see that some things are built with quality in mind.

Just another garlic press that does not work,
By A Customer
This review is from: Zyliss 12040 Jumbo Garlic Press (Kitchen)
Does not work because the holes are too small. I tried to press one pealed garlic and I used all my strengh still no crushed garlic came out of it. I asked for my husband's help and he almost broke it because he was pressing it so hard. This time just a meager amound of garlic came out of it most of it stayed jamed inside the press.
