5.0 out of 5 stars Best peeler ever!, December 23, 2003

This Zyliss peeler is incredibly sharp and comfortable in the hand, and zooms through apple skins, carrots, and potatoes with ease. The blade is firmly seated so that it swivels freely but doesn't jiggle up and down. Its clever tip is perfectly shaped to cut out potato eyes or apple bruises with a flick of the wrist. I once had an Oxo swivel peeler and usually love their products, but the blade would pop out so easily that it was hard to clean and use. Take the effort out of your peeling chores: Buy the Zyliss!

Excellent peeler...I use it mostly for daikon, cucumbers, and carrots. The handle fits comfortably in the hand and it has a soild, sturdy feel. Well thought out by the folks at Ideo.

The closest 'competing' product is the OxO Good Grips -- which everyone I know has -- which is kinda rubbery at the handle and doesn't feel as solid as it peels.

5.0 out of 5 stars Easy to use, no reason to buy another, August 5, 2004

This peeler is so easy to use - it peels with minimum effort. I use it mainly for potatoes, carrots, cucumbers, and apples. The tip also works great to remove the eyes of the potato or to scoop out the cucumber seeds.

The handle is slightly rounded, so it fits nicely in your hands (even if your hands a little small, which mine are).

I definitely recommend this peeler as one of the best I've ever used.

5.0 out of 5 stars Top Notch Peeler, August 29, 2006

I have to say this is the most comfortable and smoothest peeler you can buy in my opinion, its design fits well in your hand and unlike other similar products this one really is supper smooth and sharp.

We use it to remove the skin from ginger it works amazingly well, so do not think its just your average peeler it is not because it was so well thought out, most peelers I have seen, even the ones that somewhat look like this one are not as smooth.

This peeler has 2 small plastic inserts on the blade that allow it to swivel with very little friction on the handle, look at others most just fit the metal blade directly into the handle this creates a lot of friction and can sometimes stick a bit as its metal on metal or metal on plastic so Zyliss gets an A+ for the way the blade is assembled into its handle, over all a great well designed product.

The only one that I feel is any match would be the OXO ...

when my mom accidentally lost her 50 year old peeler that is irreplaceable, I panicked. I really thought I would someday inherit that peeler. Over the years I've purchased probably 10-15 peelers that just didn't work as well as that old reliable peeler of my mom's. That was until I purchased the Zyliss swivel peeler! This peeler "rocks"! It's even better than my mom's old peeler. After using it the first time, I ordered my mom one, too. She loves it and says it's better than old "reliable". If you are looking for a peeler that works flawlessly, is comfortable to use, this is the one! well worth the money.

4.0 out of 5 stars Good, but peelings are too thick, December 30, 2007

This peeler is nice and sharp and works incredibly well. The only thing I don't like about it is that it takes off too much of the vegetable itself along with the peel. The peelings should be thinner.

Nice sharp high quality stainless steel blade. That's what a peeler is all about. The ergonomic handle is excellent as well and makes it very easy to hold and control.. I also like the snap in place blade guard to protect the blade from damage getting tossed around in drawers, etc.

I actually had a tupperware peeler that I liked quite a bit but I destroyed it by accident. The tupperware had a carbon steel blade which made it work well but you had to take care of it by drying it off to keep it from rusting. Other wise a good peeler but not in the same class as the Zyliss. I also have a OXO I should just throw away.

I can't see an experienced cook not loving this item.

4.0 out of 5 stars Zyliss Equals Quality...., November 5, 2006

I like the curve of the swivel peeler. It works just fine, althhough it takes a little getting used to. Zyliss is synonomous with quality. Recommend this product.

5.0 out of 5 stars Zyliss the Comfort Peeler, January 25, 2010

I was a peeler hater. They were stiff, uncomfortable and I had more control with a paring knife UNTIL I found the Zyliss Swivel Peeler 5 years ago. I was so impressed with it's comfort and ability to complete a boring task so quickly and easily that I bought one for each of my friends and family! Everyone that tried them commented on how well they worked and comfortable they felt in the hand; including my reluctant, disbelieving son. My lastest purchase was to replace one I gave to a neighbor. I love to share the wealth!
