Product Description

Amazon.com Review

These all-purpose kitchen shears are a crucial kitchen tool for cutting delicate chicken bones, herbs, or even plastic food packaging. The blades are made of extra-hardened steel for long-lasting sharpness and are serrated to prevent them from slipping during cutting. The spring tension gives the shears excellent force and cutting results. These shears have a child lock to keep them from doing damage should they fall into the wrong hands and they easily disassemble for cleaning. For safety, the handle is made of non-slip plastic that provides a secure grip and is coated with UV protection to prevent it from ever yellowing. These shears are comfortable for either righties or lefties to use and are covered by Zyliss under a five-year warranty from the date of purchase. --Cristina Vaamonde

2.0 out of 5 stars Not heavy duty at all, December 29, 2007
I broke my pair cutting a chicken apart. They are hard to hold especially with greasy hands, they don't open wide enough and the curved part of the blade that is used for gripping a chicken bone is too thin that's where it broke on me. I really like Zyliss products but they need to go back to the drawing board on these. If you are cutting paper these are great.

2.0 out of 5 stars OK but not great. lousy spring, November 21, 2007
This review is from: Zyliss Spring-Assisted Shears (Kitchen)
I cut some rosemary and thyme and basil from plants outside. The woody stems beat up on the scissors blades. The blades sharpened quickly though. These two things lead me to believe that they're not as strong an alloy as advertised.
The spring mechanism is failure. It's not a spring, but a metal strip that you have to rebend to be "assisted" by the "spring assisted" shears.
It does not fully open the blades for you.

for the money, they're OK. I like most Zyliss products I have used. If I had to do over again, I'd buy the Kuhn Rikon Ultimate Snips 8.5-inch snips. Those look like they will cut herb bushes.

PS-
If you want scissors, get some full steel scissors.

3.0 out of 5 stars Not Zyliss Quality, January 10, 2007

I've had these scissors for about 3 months now and it works fine with most things, but it can't cut through plastic packaging (bags of food, milk, etc.) I was much better of with my generic kitchen scissors that I have before. I do have to admit though that it looks very attractive hanging in the kitchen.
