Product Description

Amazon.com Review

Pulling the cord in the lid of this salad spinner rotates the basket in two directions, drying greens quicker than spinners that only rotate in a single direction. The yo-yo-like action follows the same principal a spaniel uses when shaking off after his bath: the back and forth motion prevents droplets from being trapped in the folds of greens. (Conveniently, it also rewinds the pull-cord.) The basket measures 9-3/4 inches in diameter and 4-1/4 inches deep, ample capacity for family-size salads. It fits into a big transparent bowl made of light but rugged plastic that can be used to serve salads--or potato chips. A translucent, snap-on lid converts the bowl into an airtight storage container. --Fred Brack

4.0 out of 5 stars No kitchen should be without one, March 23, 2001
By A Customer
Have had two of these salad spinners for several years, and hands down, they are the best I have ever used. You can easily wash and spin a full head of lettuce due to its large capacity. It only takes about 3 pulls and your lettuce is dry - the centrifugal force is so strong it actually piles the lettuce against the sides and leaves a big empty spot in the center of the bowl. I also like that I can turn the lid over on my counter and place the inner basket on it while I am rinsing the leaves before I spin them. The extra water bunches up on the lid instead of my counter. The reason I only gave this product a 4 instead of a 5 is that the string on one of my spinners broke in two places, making it inoperable. The lid is impossible to get apart to replace the string, so I will have to purchase another lid.

I also recently purchased an Oxo Good Grips spinner and took it back because it just wasn't as good as this one. The leaves of my lettuce were quite a bit wetter and I didn't get that centrifugal force effect like with the Zyliss. The Oxo also has a large protusion sticking into the basket from the lid, so you can't turn it over and put your inner basket on it while you are washing the greens.

5.0 out of 5 stars The best salad spinner ever, May 2, 2000
I know that salad spinners are not the top sexy item in every cook's kitchen, but this one is the best I've ever used. My mother has had one for years, and when I moved into an apartment of my own, I bought a different brand and could definitely see a difference. Hands down, Zyliss wins and I need one of my own. It spins smoothly and makes even gritty spinach clean. Plus, remove the top, and you have a decent-looking salad bowl.

4.0 out of 5 stars excellent tool for the kitchen, July 13, 2000
By A Customer
I use a popular vegetable wash for salads and had a hard time removing suds from greens this device is so good and removes all suds and drys greens perfectly its better than any other spinner I have tried. It has never come apart and sprayed all the contents over the room and I can use the outer bowl as my server I rarely recommend products but this spinner is great by the way I bought mine through a catalog and paid a lot more than the price listed here.
