4.0 out of 5 stars I love my Zyliss spinner, but...
I've had my Zyliss salad spinner for a few years, and now I'm replacing it. And it's for the dumbest reason, too! Most of the unit is lasting fine. I use it at least 4-5 times per week, and I fill it pretty much every time. However, I must not be gentle enough with it. The spinning action is transmitted to the basket by 6 little plastic tabs on the edges of the lid...

1.0 out of 5 stars Great until it breaks!
I used this spinner less than 100 times before it broke. The little dingus which keeps the lid and spinner mechanism together is a cheap piece of plastic junk which just dropped off one day. Until then, I would have given this spinner a five star review. BTW, I tried to get Zyliss to live up to their "lifetime" warranty to no avail. Stay away from this until the fastener...

4.0 out of 5 stars I love my Zyliss spinner, but..., February 4, 2008
I've had my Zyliss salad spinner for a few years, and now I'm replacing it. And it's for the dumbest reason, too! Most of the unit is lasting fine. I use it at least 4-5 times per week, and I fill it pretty much every time. However, I must not be gentle enough with it. The spinning action is transmitted to the basket by 6 little plastic tabs on the edges of the lid mechanism. One by one, those tabs have broken off, and now the mechanism no longer fully engages with the basket. I can still get it to spin up if I pull and pull and pull; the basket spins slowly, then faster, and then finally catches up with the lid mechanism and responds fully to my pulling. So it's still usable; just not very practical. I wish I could fix the little tabs instead of replacing the whole thing, but I guess at least I will have an extra basket and bowl if I ever want to do two batches of something without emptying the bowl.

Edit to add: I got my new spinner, and am pleased to note that the plastic tabs that I spoke of have been replaced with much sturdier ones -- instead of being one layer, they're now each a little square of plastic, which should be nearly impossible to break. I'm very happy with the new version, and would change my review to 5 stars if I could!

4.0 out of 5 stars Make Quick Salads For Dinner, August 3, 2005
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This handy device works well to dry lettuce quickly so that now if I decide I get home too tired too cook I can make salad fast. The puul cord makes this work fun too. The only draw back is cleaning the cover. Water gets trapped and takes a while to dry properly. Otehrwise a neat little gadget.

4.0 out of 5 stars This is a great little item.., July 17, 2007

It's quite attractive and it works very well. I don't think it holds a whole head of lettuce in one spin, however. I use it very often to quickly dry off herbs from my garden, and less often to dry a head of lettuce (in two batches). The spinning mechanism is very efficient -- the rope doesn't get caught and have to be rewound like on other salad spinners I've used. It gets 4 stars instead of 5 because I agree with another reviewer that the lid is difficult to clean.

5.0 out of 5 stars Love it, December 2, 2007
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
I use it on all my salads. I especially like it because I can rinse a pre-cut bag of greens in the strainer, which freshens it, then spin it and it comes out fresh as if I had just chopped it myself. Spinach, pre-cut cole slaw, iceberg, romaine, I've noticed it works tasty with it all. I'll throw in cherry tomatoes, baby carrots, cucumber slices, mushrooms and what not with iceberg lettuce, prep it with this product, then change my mind and saran wrap it for another day; the salad was still fresh two days later. Amazing salad spinner. I don't give pencil whipped reviews and if this salad spinner was crap, I would tell you. To be honest, I wish I'd bought one 10 years ago.

5.0 out of 5 stars Dry a whole bag of greens in a matter of seconds!, July 21, 2008
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This spinner was purchased to replace my small OXO brand spinner - and I have to say this one is much better!! The OXO brand used a 'pump' type action to move the spinner, which was a pain. This model with the cord works so much better! It is very smooth and the handle is large enough to get a good grip on it when pulling. It gets excellent speed and really gets the greens nice and dry. It also quite large - I've done an entire bag of mixed greens in it at once with no problem.

5.0 out of 5 stars Everyone should have a Zyliss Salad Spinner !, August 25, 2007
I have been on a diet for about a month and I have been eating alot of salad, since I have had my salad spinner the salads stay fresh and crisp and my dressing is not watered down. The Zyliss is easy to use and clean. I really do not know why I waited so long to get a salad spinner because it has made salad easy to make, better tasting, a longer shelf life and it even looks more appetizing.

5.0 out of 5 stars This is perfect, April 6, 2007

I'm really happy with this salad spinner. I chose it because it was a reasonable cost and my favourite colour. I love it for a million other reasons: It holds an entire head of lettuce (I've tried romaine and green leaf) with the perfect amount of necessary wiggle room. I use the parts separately while I do my initial lettuce rinse. I eat salads every day for lunch, and it is great to just grab my lettuce and go, instead of going through the tedious tasks of tearing, washing, drying every single day. Likewise, I love how economical and sanitary it is - no more paper or cloth towels! The spinner dries the lettuce extremely well. The "sudden stop" button is a must - that lettuce has some serious momentum! I call this my "salafuge." I have no complaints whatsoever. :)

4.0 out of 5 stars Got it Now!, April 9, 2008

I purchased the pretty green Zyliss salad spinner at the end of last year. I've used it weekly since then. At first use, I couldn't figure out how to spin it and not have the top move. It is all in how you place the other hand, a bit difficult at first, but I've got it now! Really, really like the product. I wash the romaine in the bowl first, drain and then spin the whole bag at one time. Excellent results!

5.0 out of 5 stars Best salad spinner I've ever had, November 9, 2008
By

I first experienced this spinner at a friends house when I was making a salad for our dinner party. I was impressed with the fact that it spun ALL of the water off of the lettuce. And it was easy to use. It seems that most of the salad spinners I've had, there's an awkward position you have to get into with your body over it to hold the thing steady. Not this one. It's easy to use. The pull-string is an ingenious invention. And I love the color selection! I bought the red one.
