Cooks who like to prep food the old-fashioned way—without the use of electrics—will appreciate the compromise this grater offers. This manual food processor operates by a hand crank, relieving some of the wrist stress of grating by hand but still providing better control over the texture of food. This tabletop grater/shredder/slicer comes with four interchangeable 18/10 stainless-steel drums of varying textures to grate larger quantities of food. The fine drum is excellent for grating Parmesan cheese to mix into pesto sauce, chocolate shavings to garnish a cake, or peanuts to top off a plate of Phad Thai noodles. The coarse grating drum grates squash, carrots, or beets for a salad while the slicing drum cuts discs of carrots or cucumber, potatoes for chips, or slices of cheese. The bircher drum is ideal for shredding apples for muesli, soft cheeses for melting into casseroles or sauces, or vegetables to garnish a salad. A transparent plastic bowl is included with the set to catch and hold food as it comes out of the grater. The retro-design tabletop grater has a non-skid rubber bottom and table clamp to keep it firmly mounted on a work surface and a plastic food guide to push food through.
