Zymol Hand Crafted Waxes - Carbon Wax, 8 Ounces

I took a leap of faith and purchased the Zymol cleanse and carbon wax. I had no idea if these products were worth their cost compared to other cleaners and waxes, but thought they would be worth a shot.

The HD Cleanse is easy to use. I also used clay bars for really tough surface contaminants. As a comparator, I think cleanse is easier to use, but doesn't get out "baked on" contaminants as well as clay. That being said, the car surface was noticably smoother. I used the cleanse on the top surfaces prior to using the wax. When I started waxing over the car, the wax went on whisper quiet. Waxing was so easy that I tried it on side surfaces that I didn't use the cleanse, with noticable differences - noiser and more resistance.

The Carbon wax doesn't stain rubber (black) surfaces. It goes on like an oil and wipes off like an oil (it being oil in large part). Super smooth. I started to use a buffer to bring out the shine, but found it wasn't necessary (I use a random orbital buffer on other cars with other waxes). A terry cloth was all that was needed (I used my own - no need to pay too much for this).

I am sure that this won't be a long term wax. Carnauba waxes are usually short term waxes. I only plan on it lasting 2 - 3 months. That's OK, because I like to wax the car once a season to really look over the surface anyway.

BTW I barely made a dent in the paste to wax my whole car. Even though it is an expensive wax, it looks like it will provide many, many applications.

Zymol went on easy and smelled nice. The whole package and application reminded me of a refined Kit car wax for clear coats. Made of natural ingredients it must be refrigerated after opening. As far as I can tell you are applying natural oils to the surface of the car, which turns into wax during the 30-45 minutes curing process. The reason the car was being waxed was to save time washing off road dirt and ocean spray. The car looked great just with its clear coat. I have no way of knowing if it is the best because I have not tried everything else in the world. I am glad just glad the Zymol went on easy.

With any protectant everything depends on the preparation. In this case it is a no brainer because the required Zymol HD cleanse is the same Montan oil cleaner used to prepare for specialty Waxes and Glazes that cost much more. No matter what priced product you eventually choose, preparation will be the same up to the the HD cleanse, the last step before the final coat.

In my case I did not know what was currently on the car's finish, so I removed all previous wax and coatings. This was followed by a gentler car wash to remove the Dawn, and used a clay rub, to remove paint contaminations. The detailer's clay was easy, you could feel the particles being seared off. By now the car felt clean, smooth and looked shiny. The Zymol cleaner was easy on, and easy off. The car looked about the same here, as it did after the Carbon Wax application.

The Carbon will not adhere to itself, so a second coat a day later was applied just be sure of full coverage. Now with the car "Waxed," washing off road grim is easy and quick. All I plan to do to maintain a clean looking car, is a simple "wash and wax." Sports cars are made to be driven, not just looked at.
