5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent Rinse
This rinse is a lifesaver. My dog is prone to skin infections due to allergies. The rinse kills the bacteria and fungus and it leaves my dogs skin and coat moisturized and very soft. It also has a very pleasant aroma. You can use it between shampoo's too. I place a small amount in my hands and rub it into my dogs coat. It leaves his coat soft and does not leave a...

1.0 out of 5 stars Seemed to work at first then our dog had allergic reaction to it
This rinse seemed to be helping with a bout of hot spots/allergies but when I put it directly on his skin as the directions said, he had an allergic reaction and broke out in very itchy, tiny red dots. -We were using this to reduce itching, and this made it worse! After a good bath to get it off his skin and then aloe applied to the spots, the next day they red spots were...

It also has a very pleasant aroma. You can use it between shampoo's too. I place a small amount in my hands and rub it into my dogs coat. It leaves his coat soft and does not leave a residue. To top it off the price is right. I am very grateful to have found this product. I also use the shampoo and the ear medication and they all work great. I highly recommend Zymox products.

5.0 out of 5 stars Miracle cure for skin disease, June 27, 2008
My puppy had a skin rash, scaly, itchy, red blotches all over. The vets gave me some antibiotics which did not work, then wanted me to go through an expensive allergy test, etc. (after he tested negative for mange).

I was keeping it in check with some essential oils. But Zymox cured my puppy completely. I rubbed the rinse on him and left it. I could tell it was soothing to his itchy skin. I also bought the ear drops because his ears were smelly and also had this red rash.

His ears cleared up in 4 hours, no joke! The next day his skin was not red and is healing. He is not itchy anymore. I expect in a few days all trace of this skin infection will be gone.

My puppy is so happy. Skin disease and ear infections are terrible!
Every vet in the country should use Zymox as the first line of treatment.

5.0 out of 5 stars Strong Enzymes, October 1, 2010

This review is from: Zymox Medicated Antibacterial Pet Rinse, 12-Ounce (Misc.)
For the chemically curious: On the label it says "Manufactured by Laclede, Inc. for PKB Animal Health." Laclede is also the manufacturer of the popular Biotene Dry Mouth Toothpaste. The active ingredients are the exact same. What is an enzyme? Enzymes are proteins that act as biochemical catalysts; in other words they are simply proteins that assist certain chemical reactions. Enzymes are complex proteins that cause a specific chemical change in other substances, without being changed themselves. "For example, they can change starches, proteins, and sugars into substances the body can use. Enzymes are essential to all bodily functions. They are found in the mouth (saliva), stomach (gastric juice), intestines (pancreatic juice, intestinal juice, and intestinal mucosamucosa), blood, and every other organ and cell in the body." For example one of the Zymox ingredients, Lactoperoxidase, is naturally found in human saliva. Generally enzymes are non-toxic because they are just "helpers" not directly combining with other molecules. This pet rinse has the consistency of hair conditioner and also has a nice fruity fragrance like hair conditioner. I chose to buy the rinse rather than the shampoo because I think the rinse will better preserve the natural enzymes, which tend to be sensitive to things like pH changes. The rinse (more like a cream) can be mixed with water or applied directly. This is nature's way of killing bacteria and fungus, and it works! Now my dog smells fresh and I didn't have to worry about getting strange chemicals on him or onto my hands.

5.0 out of 5 stars A MUST FOR ITCHY DOGS!!, January 27, 2010

I purchased this product upon reading other reviews, for my Cocker Spaniel, who has itchy, skin dermititis/excessive yeast on his underside. It works! I massaged it on his skin after using a medicated shampoo (I used tea tree shampoo, but plan on purchasing their shampoo). Especially in the areas that were the most problematic. I used it even in-between shampooing. It smells great, & makes my dog's fur soft & shiny. I would recommend bathing your dog more often using a medicated/antibactieral shampoo w/ using the rinse afterwards for bad cases(which was my dog). He isn't 100% cured- but I would say 95% better- no more excessive itching!! Thanks, Zymox & Amazon!!

We are using this product with the Zymox Enzamatic Shampoo. I purchased these products after several years of trying many different products for my Shih Tzu. She is old and had terrible problems with her skin. It got to the point where her fur was very thin and she had severe dry skin with flaking and sores all over her body. After trying this product she is 90% better. We have used these products for about a month and the dry flaking skin is almost non existent and her fur is growing thicker. She still has some itching because of allergies but she is so much better. I was so grieved because nothing seemed to work. We are both very happy by the results!

I have used this product only once in between bath time and it smelled great and did the trick until I was able to bath my dog again. I use Zymox Shampoo and think it is the greatest thing I have come across in ages....rinse is helpful to keep from over bathing and drying his skin out.

5.0 out of 5 stars Zymox is Wonderful again!, December 10, 2010

This review is from: Zymox Medicated Antibacterial Pet Rinse, 12-Ounce (Misc.)
My poor cat has heat sensitive skin. The vet has 'never been sure what causes this'. She scratches and bites herself like crazy. Then she's all covered with scabs and cuts for months out of the year. Since my one cat was cured with Zymox for her ear yeast, I figured I would try Zymox again.
I didn't use this as a rinse, but massaged it into her fur and skin about every three days.
I know have a itch free, scab free, very happy cat!
