Makes waking up easier,
This review is from: aXbo Sleep Phase Alarm Clock-For Two-White Finish (Electronics)
I've had this product for over a year now and both my husband and I like it very much. I don't find that the aXbo is any more difficult to set than with a regular clock. I set it for the time that I would set a regular clock for, say 6:30, and realize that it could go off as early as 6:00.
By using the aXbo, we don't wake up in the middle of a deep sleep except on the rare occasion when we haven't moved in the 30 minutes prior to the alarm, causing it to use a buzzer instead of the alarm sound that I chose. My husband travels often for business and has far more early mornings than I do (getting up before 5:30). On those nights he always uses the aXbo and has never had a problem with either not waking up or only waking up enough to turn off the alarm and then falling back asleep. For us, this product has been well worth the money and I would definitely buy it again.

I've been using this alarm clock for around two years. It is very easy to set up and use. You just set it to the time when you need to be up and it wakes you up sometime in the 30 minutes previous when it detects that you are in a light sleep. It plays one of several selectable sounds to wake you. If you are in a deep sleep clear through the 30 minutes then it wakes you up with a buzzer, but I rarely wake up to that. I had no problem getting used to sleeping with the wristband on.
Before this clock, I very often slept through my alarm, or worse, dreamt that I woke up and tried to turn off the alarm except that I couldn't turn it off. I know, it's weird. Most of the time when this clock goes off, I feel like I was about to wake up anyway. The two things that would make it absolutely perfect would be first, more control over the options (i.e. I would love to be able to set it to wake me up within an hour of the selected time.) The second thing would be if the wristbands vibrated when the alarm went off. I know that this would require occasional battery changes, but it would be worth it.

Great idea, undesired 'handcuff' effect,

I bought this product about a year ago and have not been using it anymore for the last 8 months. Why not? It is a nice product for sure. Well designed and I had no problems setting it up. The alarm function at times gave spectacular results, waking me up at exactly the right time, feeling very awake and no drowsiness whatsoever. But my brain apparently dislikes waking up so much that it started to take counter-measures. The alarm clock responds to the motion of the arm you are wearing wristband on. Simply put, it will not start the alarm if no motion is detected in the 30 minute 'alarm window'. My brain simply responded by making it first priority not to move the arm with the wristband. After a while, it felt like one arm was in a handcuff, allowing no motion during the entire night. No motion during sleep is not exactly pleasant, and the alarm would not work anymore. Game over (for me).
At the time I felt that a motion sensor might not work for me, but an ECG sensor might as it probably cannot be outsmarted. Recently I found a product that does exactly this: Zeo Personal Sleep Coach. I am considering purchasing this product but have not done so yet. Spending $200+ for a second time for something that might not provide the desired results is something I lose sleep over.

Amazing!,
A friend talked me into aXbo 2 months ago and I thought I gonna try it. Since the first days my husband and I are really satisfied with our new friend in the mornings. We can choose different very enjoyable sounds. My husband doesn't disturb me anymore when he wakes up like he did in the past. I really believe that since its his ideal time and not mine it's not effecting my sleep. In the users manual the sleeping phases are described. My husband and I noticed when aXbo wakes us during a lighter sleep getting up is a lot easier. The wristband is comfortable and aXbo is facile to use. To be honest, I had doubts but now I am stunned... it really works!

I must admit that I have a bit of a problem sleeping later than I want to when I don't have to be somewhere. After reading the reviews on amazon I ponyed up the big bucks and bought the aXbo. I guess I thought that when the aXbo woke me up I would feel ready to spring out of bed, chipper and ready to take on the day ahead of me. Not the case. I found it to alert me at the "optimal" wake time but just turned it off cause I didn't want to get up.This comes with two wrist bands (just like an athletic sweatband), the motion sensor monitor is then inserted into the wrist band. There are two different sizes, one small and one large. My wife tried it for the first night but didn't like having something so tight on her wrist. I do like that this is update-able. When aXbo releases an update you just download it, connect the aXbo to your computer, and update it. I did this when I first got mine and it added a bunch of new alarm sounds. Pretty simple if your tech savvy. In conclusion... I sent mine back. It's not horrible but not great either. I think this is priced too high, there are other units that may be just as adequate and more affordable. Don't buy this thinking it will magically get you going in the morning, it may help but it's only a part of the equation. Lark Silent Un-Alarm Clock and Sleep Sensor (8083374) Sleeptracker Wake Up Monitor SleepTracker Pro Elite Male Version Sleep Monitor I put together a list of the different tones on the aXbo. Thought this might be helpful to some... Original waking sounds: singing birds, swing band drum solo, weather channel groove, annoying percussion sound, jazzy latin number, 70s groove Updated waking sounds: farm sound (rooster crowing/cows mooing/chickens clucking), sesame street groove, morning songbirds (reminiscent of camping), messing around on a keyboard groove, fast church bells, new age pop. Original Chillout sounds: (for going to sleep): rainforest, seagulls with light beach sounds, crickets Updated Chillout sounds: Indian sounding keyboard, frogs, waves rolling in

When it works....,
This review is from: aXbo Sleep Phase Alarm Clock-For Two-White Finish (Electronics)
I own this product. Its is extremely expensive but does do what it claims. When it works, ~50 percent of the time, it wakes you up feeling refreshed. However setting the alarm is a pain.. If it worked more of the time I'd use it more often but as it is it just sits on my shelf.

Sleep Clock from hell,

Pros:
Cons: 1. It is very difficult to installed. It froze my system the first time I tried. It installed on the third attempt. Then it took another three attempts to install the updates. 2. The major problem was that it woke me 30 minutes early the first time I used it and 21 minutes early the second time. I did not feel rested when I was awakened. I would've liked to sleep more. 3. The graph of my sleep patterns showed number of movements with no explanation. It was a little use. I am returning my unit to Amazon. I wasted a lot of time installing and trying to use this unit. |
