Mad about Romantic Piano

The quality of the performance and recording is excellent. I find this to be true of Deutsche Grammophon CDs in general.

On this CD, the piano (soft) passages are really soft, and I find the CD isn't really suitable for the car. But it's terrific at home.

Maria Joćo Pires playing the Larghetto from Chopin's 2nd Concerto is incredible. It's a very moving piece of music. (BTW, I recommend her double CD from Deutsche Grammophon, "Chopin: The Nocturnes")

I love this CD. It is great for relaxing in the bathtub, curing insomnia, and getting into a romantic mood. I had the tape for a few years and wore it out. (Another recommendation for a similar effect is the Cocteau Twins "Milk & Kisses")

This one will put you to sleep quicker than a glass of warm milk--certainly not something to be characterized as "romantic". Nonetheless, it is a very soothing collection of classical works that will not interfere with your conversation/thought process/sweet dreams.

Take note of the discrepancy between Amazon's listing of 15 tracks vs. the detailed listing of 14 tracks with composer/performer credits. My CD has only 14 tracks and the detailed listing offered by Amazon seems to be correct.
