From the Manufacturer

Aden and Anais Muslin Wraps is made up of 100% cotton. Muslin swaddling wraps are the ultimate in breathability and softness. The fabric's light, open weave allows a baby's body temperature to regulate itself naturally in order to prevent overheating. Muslin has the unique characteristic of allowing a swaddled baby to stay cool in the summer, while still offering warmth in the winter, and the more you wash it, the softer it gets. Each swaddling wrap measures 47/47" in size and allows new and seasoned moms alike to swaddle any size baby with ease. It is more traditionally used as a swaddling wrap. Aden and Anais wraps are also useful as burp cloths, nursing shields, stroller covers to protect from sun, cold, wind or insects, portable crib sheets, stroller and car seat liners, tummy time blankets, change table covers, and more.

Product Description

Muslin is a unique cotton fabric first introduced into England in the late 17th century. Muslin has a light, open weave that allows air to flow seamlessly through the material. The soft natural fibers allow your baby's body temperature to adjust naturally, eliminating over-heating, but ensuring warmth and comfort. aden + anais wraps will allow you to safely swaddle your baby, giving you confidence that your baby will experience a peaceful and secure sleep.

5.0 out of 5 stars Is five stars enough?! September 21, 2009
I ordered these when I was pregnant to swaddle our baby with, and when I recieved them I felt slightly disappointed. They seemed thin, and not very durable. Plus at $42 for the four of them they were not cheap! They were nice and large, and the print was cute, but I was not sure how they would hold up. Then our son was born, and now I have no idea what we would do without these! Once you wash them they get super soft, they wrap perfectly, and because they are light weight mold to the babies shape, can be packed easily, and if its cool out can be layered with another blanket for warmth. They are also very breathable and absorbent! They are hands down the best blankets out there! We use these literally all day, everyday, and not just for swaddling! We cover his car seat with them when we go out, we put them on the floor as a play mat/changing pad, use it as a burp cloth, and I even bought a nursing clip so I can use these as a nursing cover in public. Nursing covers are $30-$40 alone, and that is one less thing to put in the already crammed diaper bag. They also hold up awesome in the wash. Our son has spit up on these, peed on them, pooed, they have been dropped, used to clean up milk and formula, and just gotten generally icky, and have come out of the wash pristine and soft as down every time. I love these. LOVE. It also doesn't hurt that they are super cute too. We get compliments everywhere we go on how cute they are. I would maybe say my only complaint is the price tag, but considering the use we get out of them I would say its well worth it. Plus Aden and Anais put out a line for target and they are $29 for a four pack of these wraps! We have purchased two more packages, and they are just as nice! Seriously, if I had to pick five baby items I could not live without, these would be on that list.

4.0 out of 5 stars Expensive, BUT Practical January 31, 2009
Color Name:Neutral Shapes
Ever since my wife and I went to our Baby Birthing classes we have heard about how swaddling calms the baby, so are next goal was to find a "Swaddling" blanket. For our baby shower we received several "take baby home blankets", but when we practiced with these at our classes they were too small (30x30), and the one's the hospitals use we couldn't find, so I searched for the local shops (Baby USA, ToysRUs etc), but they had very specific swaddling wraps or the blankets were too small. I then searched on the internet and found several types and brands, and liked the idea of the Muslin Cotten with Aden + Anais, they were (40 x 40), and light especially living in Hawaii that's important.

Although they were 40.99 for pack of 4 they are very practical as they are flexible, soft and very light. This is important when wrapping so baby can feel snug and safe, but not to restricted that they can't move a little. They are light which in Hawaii it keeps baby warm but not to hot even w/o AC. And because they are larger we can use these as baby grows as a wrap and as a light blanket. I am very pleased with these, and have recommended these to a co-worker, or we may buy as a baby shower gift.

One note, it takes some getting used to wrapping baby because they are 40x40, but with some practice you can do it.

Good Luck

5.0 out of 5 stars What the Fuss? Super Swaddler December 29, 2009
Color Name:Zoo Animals
We knew very little about swaddling before Leighton. She roomed in with us at the hospital, and we never sent her to the nursery. Occasionally, a nurse would come in and wrap her up in what looked like a flannel Ace bandage. There was my pride and joy - a sleeping cremini mushroom with a scrunched little face.

Leighton, by design, is not a particularly colicky baby. In fact, I imagine that Dr. Weissbluth (of Healthy Sleep Habits Happy Child fame) would say she is four parts easy baby and one part fuss. Still, for her first eight weeks on this planet, her "flail reflex" kept her from sleeping peacefully without intervention. (It still disrupts her on occasion). Early on, a friend gave us a video called The Happiest Baby on the Block that illustrates how to wrap your kid like a burrito and then shush, shimmy and swing the little peanut to sleep. It looks easy enough, but the whole deal doesn't work without a proper swaddling blanket.

Child experts frighten new parents out of their minds about SIDS - and I'm not saying it isn't a legitimate concern - I'm simply eluding to the fact that my fear of SIDS escalated to a fear of blankets in general. We had cozy cotton blankets from Gymboree and Tea Collection and a thousand of those fleecy blankets that you get for "congrats on your new baby" type gifts. These were all too thick and scary and sweaty for me. Plus, none of these, regardless of quality, could hold a swaddle. The inexpensive flannel rectangles would work if they were actually big enough to wrap around my baby. Bummer.

In the video, Dr. Karp made it look so simple. I was inspired to test his methodology. I perused countless websites and couldn't seem to find thin, soft blankets large enough to swaddle Leighton. During my pregnancy, I had squirreled away a huge list of links for products - nuggets that interested me. I went back to that well, remembering that there was a blanket website that had caught my eye initially because it looked fancy and took a hit on "organic".

I purchased Pink/White and Pink/Brown 4-packs of Muslin Swaddling Blankets for $44.00 each from Aden and Anais. Problem solved.

They are big (47 inch square), soft and breathable. They work like a charm for swaddling. She could snooze blissfully for five or six hours in her little muslin cocoon. BRILLIANT!

Since we stopped wrapping Leighton up at night, we have used them as crib sheet savers, burp cloths, pacifier holder-inners, sun shades ... you name it. Spitty on it - throw it in the hamper. Pee on it - throw it in the hamper. And, you just toss another one in it's place. Honestly, these are a few of my favorite things.

Leighton nutches on Soothies and has trouble keeping them in as she dozes off. I was accustomed to running over and plugging it back in every few minutes. Now, I wad up one of these blankets and prop the Soothie in. She can breathe right through the blanket if it moves, so I don't worry about smothering her either.

Aden and Anais blankets get softer and more wonderful as you use them. I don't think any parent should be without a stash of these fab finds. In fact, we have eight and I would like four more because Leighton is becoming quite a little drooler.

One recommendation I have is to choose either pastel designs or just plain white. The more design on the blanket, the stiffer it will be to start out. And, much of the joy is derived from the sheer softness. When I put Leighton down for a nap or for bed, she always has one of these swaddlers in her grip. "Get cozy" I tell her as tickle her face with a corner and tuck her in.

Our standard shower gift for first time parents (Yes - we have a "standard gift" that our freinds have come to expect) is a four pack of Aden and Anais blankets, The Happiest Baby on the Block and Healthy Sleep Habits, Happy Child. We have yet to disappoint - especially with the blankets.
