Adidas took a slight risk here. They put newer running technology into a shoe that looks like a throwback.
Personally, I was a little sick of all the "futuristic," bright-colored plastic molds on my running shoes. I just kept buying those types of shoes because that was what was available.
I took a slight risk too, buying shoes online, true sight unseen, without trying on.
Both my risk and Adidas' risk paid off. These are the best running shoes I've ever had.
You may find better, but you'll probably have to pay more money. I tend to stay in the middle range as far as price goes, having tried Nike, Asics, New Balance, and some other efforts by Adidas.
So far there is no comparison. I feel like I can run an extra mile in these every time.
They're also good for plyometric workouts, which have recently come back into style.

Now a caution.
This particular model is made of a very lightweight, breathable mesh. If you're running in the dead of winter, get some nice warm socks, or track down the version of this shoe that comes in leather.
On the other hand, if you're running in warm weather, you're feet will feel great as they get a breath of fresh air with every step.

In addition, these shoes look awesome! I've already mentioned their virtues as athletic shoes, but I almost can't wait until I've worn them out from running so I can use the current pair as a casual shoe and get another pair to run another 400 miles.

I've been running for a long time. I have owned New Balance, Nike, and Adidas shoes. By far, I prefer adidas, so that is what I have put my last 250 miles on. My older shoe had seen better days, so I figured it was time for a new shoe since I had a half marathon coming up in a few days. Went to an outlet, bought this shoe, and it has been a dream ever since. I love the mesh that this shoe is made up of, which keeps the shoe from becoming cumbersome in longer runs. Also, the Adiprene sole that is in the shoe is great as a form fitting material. Buying my second pair, because these shoes are just that good and reliable.
Also, as a long distance runner, I usually expect wear and tear on shoes to start showing fairly quickly. These shoes have held up great and they are nearing 75 miles.

I previously was wearing the Asics Gel Frantic 3 and then the 4. I've run a couple marathons in the past and now I'm basically doing 3 to 5 miles a time about 3 or 4 times a week. I let the Frantic 3 wear down too low and I think that's why I got tendinitis and then the Frantic 4 didn't seem to allow the right motion for my neutral gate and made it worse. What does this have to do with the Marathon 10? Well after ditching the Frantic 4 the Marathon has felt MUCH better and I'm back to running a few times a week after not being able to shake the tendinitis for a year (with a little icing after runs). It lets my foot move as it should for a neutral gate, is lightweight, descent cushioning and I can use it to play a little soccer with no problems cutting (albeit coaching my son's team, not really playing). The retro style looks cool too...I really hate the neon look of most running shoes. Good shoe and I recommend it.

EDIT: After wearing them for 4 months, I'm convinced these are the best running shoes I've owned. Probably have logged 225 miles or so between an outdoor track and the roads (between 3 to 10 miles per road run), and they've been perfect. They're not minimalist shoes, but it's a perfect balance between a lightweight shoe and one with decent cushion. Just like all shoes, I guess they take some time to break into which is why I initially gave it four stars and am now giving it 5 :-)

They don't give your feet the same 'airy' feel I expected when I first tried them on
The interior part of the tongue sometimes rubs against the outside of my foot

Good:
The color scheme is great! (have the orange-blue variety)
Very comfortable to wear; don't notice any leg pain even after days of consecutive runs

Overall, I'd recommend these shoes. I go for runs between 3 and 10 miles generally and they're comfortable at all distances. I think I'm a neutral foot (no over/underpronation) if that matters.

These shoes are great. Made my feet feel very comfortable after a long run. Didn't have the after running hurt I normally do. Lightweight and very sturdy. Would recommend to anyone!

Adidas has returned as my #1. These shoes are amazing, comfortable, light, and durable. I couldn't be more pleased with this purchase.

I bought my marathons in the same day that I also bought a pair of New Balance 451's in Dunwoody,GA for just kicking around in.I had never done much with the Marathons execept wear them recreationally,while admiring how good-looking they are,but now that I have started working out full bore,which includes running,I understand the importance of having a well-fitting,comfortable pair of running shoes.The Marathon is a PRIME example of that shoe.I have been running in them for 3 weeks now,but the real weird part lies in the story I am about to relate from this past saturday.My Family and I went to the track at the local high school early in the morning,then My wife and I went to play tennis at a court across town.I usually remember to bring along my tennis shoes also(Adidas of course),but I forgot them this time,so the Marathons doubled as my tennis shoes for another 1.5 hours on top of the hour that we were running at the track. Needless to say I was very apprehensive about whether the Marathons would be able to withstand the constant back and forth & side to side movements that playing tennis incorporates,but the Marathons passed the test WITH FLYING COLORS.They were,in fact just as sturdy & comfortable as my tennis shoes are.I decided to write to tell perspective buyers that you probably can pay a lot more for a running shoe,but it will take A WHOLE LOT of searching to find a better,well-constructed running shoe for the money.This shoe has reinforced my faith in the ADIDAS brand.

Great shoes. I will be buying these shoes again in the future. Very comfortable and don't hurt my feet (something my New Balance had started to do). I run about 5 - 7 miles 4-5 times a week and have no issues. I am going to be training for a half marathon soon so I will update how they hold up, but I don't expect an issues. Make sure to order a size larger than you normally wear.

These shoes are comfortable. Forms well to the feet. I haven't tried running in them yet, but there's not a ton of cushion, so it may not be that good for running.
