I'm a police officer, ex-police advisor in Afghanistan and former airborne infantryman. I have worn numerous brands of boots throughout my career including Danner, Matterhorn, ECCO, Magnum, Bates, Thorogood, Blackhawk and Oakley. The GSG 9.2 is the best boot I've ever worn. It feels like wearing a glove made for your feet. It's lightweight, with good ankle support and water proof. The fit is tight but comfortable and true to size. The traction is phenomenal. It's worth the money you spend. I will never buy another boot except the GSG 9.2, it's that good.

The conditions of the Adidas GSG-9.2 boots I brought last month are great. Not only the price is reasonable but also it is very comfortable, light weight and completely water proof. My feet still keep dry when I wear it under heavy rainfall. Whenever you wear it, you will wonder if you are wearing a pair of high-tech sport shoes but in fact it is a pair of multi-function combat boots. This GSG-9.2 boots are highly recommended for every law enforcement officer.

True to size and very well crafted, the GSG-9.2s grip the road while giving perfect arch support. Comfortable as sneakers with all the weather proofing of winter boots, adidas GSG-9.2s are a unique combination of light comfort with tough durability.

Researched these boots for a while before buying them. Needed a comfortable pair of boots that weren't too heavy, i.e. (Danners), and that would provide me the stability and speed to get up and go at a moment's notice. Working in prison, you need a pair of boots that you feel just as comfortable running in as you would walking, not just on asphalt/concrete but also on grass. These boots fit the bill very well. The only drawback is they fit a bit tight, so I would recommend you go a 1/2 size larger. Especially if you have a wide foot like I do.

I have owned and worn my first pair of GSG-9.2 for about 3 years. I have worn them every week and in every environmental condition in Colorado. In 100 degree heat on the pavement, when it's -10 degrees while standing in snow in the middle of the night, trekking through rivers, and everything in between.

There is no break in period and feel like sneakers right out of the box. After three years they feel just as comfortable as they did on day one. They are light, have a snug fit, good traction, and have held up decently.

I have owned many pairs of boots over the years and found these to be the best multipurpose boots around. Some reviews state they wish the boots had zip up sides or speed laces. I think that would take away from the boots stability and comfort. I personally stay away from zip up sides and don't trust speed laces. The only thing I did to my boots was replacing the shoe laces with para cord and tied knots at the very end. So when I take them off, I just pull until I reach the end knot and they slip off easy.

No boot is perfect and this one only has a few downfalls. In extreme heat it doesn't breath as well as a mesh boot, and in extreme cold it doesn't hold in the heat like a Gore-Tex boot. After three years I have to get a new pair because they are starting to fall apart around the sole.

I have spent weeks researching every boot around and have decided to stick with the GSG-9's. You get the stability of a work boot, the lightness of a tennis shoe, they are waterproof, and most of all they are comfortable to wear. If you are looking for a multipurpose boot to get you through every situation and with comfort, you have found it.

I had my boots for a week when the rubber started flaking away. I thought it would stop soon since it was an isolated area. I liked the boots but they hurt my feet (too narrow by far for a normal size 12). After a month there was a lot of rubber gone and some of it in chunks. After 6 months the bottoms of both boots were mostly flat after most of the lugs wore away or flaked off. Then the last straw was the eyelets ripping out and the nylon lace loops tearing. Now the boots couldn't be tied. I emailed Adidas customer support (including photos) and they NEVER RESPONDED. I finally talked to a "Product Expert" on Adidas.com and she said that the satisfaction guarantee policies had changed and that I was out of luck. Furthermore, she said that if I bought another pair from Adidas.com and had a similar experience I would also get no support. The return policy is 30 days and there is NO satisfaction guarantee anymore.

[UPDATE: 2/18/2014]
I tried to leave this review on Adidas.com and Customer Service contacted me. I sent the boots off for "Review" on January 8th and haven't heard back from them. I had purchased another pair from Adidas.com anticipating a credit from the old boots. The new boots have already started to fall apart in the same way. They are still selling boots made in August 2012. I called customer service about the new boots and they said they would send me a return authorization (via e-mail) but I never received it.

Still a terrible experience and now I am out the cost of both pairs.

I upgraded from a 1 to a 3 after a week of testing. I don't think they are worth more then that and I can't imagine spending $160 on these boots.

Understand that my review is only from owning them for 1 week. I will update as I own them a little longer and have done further testing.

-Pros
Good grip on dry pavement, wet pavement and dirt.

-Cons
I can make due with this boot, several 2-4 mile walks have broken these in but I would appreciate if there was a wide version.

I have not broken them yet but the lace eyelets just don't inspire confidence.

climbing up a small wet and muddy embankment didn't feel all that sturdy, it was night and day from the grip I got on pavement and I didn't feel any better than the 100 other times I went up the same hill in my running shoes.

These boots are absolutely useless when trying to scale a simple chain link fence. They provide no traction on the mesh, they won't fit in between the xlinks. they slip off of the fence like its ice.

Function testing:
I couldn't find a deep enough puddle so tested the waterproof claim in my bathtub.
For 10 minutes I tested up to 5" of water and walked around as much as I could and my feet stayed dry.
5.5" and above they were only waterproof for about 17 seconds. I think the reason is at around 5.5" the tongue starts to form and water gets in around there. I tried increasing lace tightness but that had no better results.

Also, the boot grip was significantly reduced in bathtub, having never had boots on in my bathtub I can't say for sure that this isn't the case with all boots and since I don't plan to go running in bathtubs often I really didn't care.

After several practice runs, I can get these boots on in about 1 minute. Better then the 1:40 previously. I think this is due to break in.

How adidas can make this boot better:

Wider sizes
zipper (waterproof)
Boot loop

I have been wearing my GSG's for 6 months and they have held up great under extreme conditions. They are without a doubt the most comfortable boots I have ever owned, I love them. The only issue I have is with the water proofing! My Danner's worked much better in rain and mud. During a torrential down pore my boots filled with water and then held it all in for the rest of the shift. Nobody said the life of an EOD tech was gonna be comfortable!! Other than the lack of water proofing I would recommend these boots to anyone.

This my third pair of these boots, I am 70 years old and have hiked and hunted the world, there is nothing like them for my feet. I bought my first pair 3 years ago. and I wanted to make sure I always had a pair around, until I can't hoof it anymore. I live by the mountains and hunt and exercise at least twice a week. I spent 10 days in the Wyoming Wind Rivers range (78 miles one end to the other). Thats when I fell in love with them. I could not belive no one made a running shoe into a hunting and fishing boot. there Great.....

These boots are awesome. Waterproof, lite weight and grip everything. These things feel like your wearing old comfortable sneakers right out of the box. I've had these boots 6 months now and they feel great. I wore them for 16 hours in them and my feet didn't mind a bit.
