5.0 out of 5 stars Perfection, April 15, 2008
This review is from: adidas Men's Samba K Soccer Shoe (Apparel)
I have been wearing Sambas for literally the last 10 years of my life. They are a fantastic shoe, comfortable, good looking, and durable. (awesome driving shoe as well) I just recently got a pair of Samba K's, and there is no turning back. Sure the leather is softer and they are slightly more comfortable, but the best part? The inside of the tab on the back (where you slide your heal into) is no longer cloth, it is leather. This was always the first to go on my Sambas, the cloth would start to rip, the padding come out, but now that it is leather, it is much more durable and the shoe lasts forever. Perfection!

4.0 out of 5 stars excellent for taiji, April 24, 2008

Just got a pair which I use for Chen style Taiji. They are extremely comfortable -- the kangaroo leather is definitely worth the premium over the usual sneaker material. The main potential problem is the arch, which either hits you in a good place or -- it doesn't. If that part fits, you will absolutely love these shoes. They're particularly good for Taiji because they're wider across the instep than most martial arts shoes, giving you a broader "footprint" and thus more stability.

4.0 out of 5 stars Great for wearing, bad for indoor soccer, October 31, 2003

The full-grain kangaroo leather is soft and supple, but not sturdy. Astroturf or other playing surfaces will tear up your Samba K. The Samba Classic or the new Samba Millenium are tougher. That said, these are unbelievably comfortable shoes.

Iconic and timeless, Sambas are a true classic and an excellent shoe for everyday wear or athletic activities where having the freedom to wiggle your toes is important. Comfortable as a slipper, durable as a work boot... what's not to like?

Answer: the shoelaces. The ones with the last pair I ordered must have been coated with some sort of magic invisible wax because they refuse to stay tied, even when double knotted! Hopefully Adidas has already corrected this.

5.0 out of 5 stars K is for Kangaroo, October 20, 2009
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
Kangaroo leather is what makes this a great indoor soccer shoe, very soft. Great casual shoe. Leather is much softer than samba classic and stretches to fit your foot. The tounge is all leather compared to a synthetic tongue on the classics. Gum rubber sole is made of different material than samba classic as well and seems to last longer. My first pair of samba classics split in the sole right where it flexes after a year or two. My last pair of Samba Ks lasted until the white stripes finally ripped off 6-7 yrs. This shoe is more expensive than the classic, if you just want the look of Sambas save your money and get classics. If you want a good shoe that is comfortable, this is it. I'm not positive but I think this is the original samba design, at least from when I was a kid. They started making the Samba Classic in the late 80s early 90s as an afordable shoe for people that just wanted the style but not the quality that made it so popular.

5.0 out of 5 stars Perfect sneakers. Can't wear anything else now., August 18, 2009
This review is from: adidas Men's Samba K Soccer Shoe (Apparel)
I've been a loooong time Converse All-Star fan, then finally branched out to Adidas Sambas maybe two years ago. About two months ago I sprung for a pair of Samba K's. I do not regret that at all.

The kangaroo leather is simply beautiful. It wrinkles in a "real" manner, as opposed to the synthetic uppers on the Samba classics. It's very light. The shoes don't seem as stiff as the classics, either. I had to "break in" my classics for probably a week before they were real comfortable. These shoes were wonderful from the start. After two months of reasonable wear, they're still absolutely beautiful. I have no idea how long these'll last, but I'm sure it'll be a long time. They show practically zero signs of wear as of right now.

If you're a fan of the Samba, do yourself a favor and spring for the K next time you have some money or need new shoes.
