Amazon.com Product Description

With 3-D adiPrene cushioning in the heel and a seam-free upper, the adidas Cushion running shoe is the ultimate trainer for cross-country runners. The shoe's adiPrene system maintains forefoot propulsion and efficiency while protecting your foot from harmful impacts, resulting in a softer, less jarring stride when running long distances. Other details include a soft and breathable air mesh upper, a cushioned sock-like lining, and an adiWear outsole that provides durability in high-wear areas.

Product Description

Maybe long distance runners are actually a different species. Certainly, the compelling need to wake up hours before coffee time and run farther than most people care to drive in one stretch is something few non-runners really grasp. The stares you get when talking about running a marathon, a half marathon, or even a distance of miles in the plural form are enough to keep you feeling peculiar and misunderstood. Different species or not, the adidas Adistar Cushion 5 men's running shoes understand you and your particular needs.Without the right shoe, racking up all that mileage can take a real toll on your feet, so adidas packed the Adistar Cushion 5 with the extra adiPRENE, its patented lightweight, ultra-flexible form of EVA (Ethylene Vinyl Acetate) padding, in the forefoot and heel for maximum shock absorption in your foot's most high-impact regions. The adidas Adistar Cushion 5 also features a light and breathable synthetic upper, so your feet won't overheat or hyperventilate on those long hauls.Because that high-mileage can be as hard on your shoes as it is your feet, the adidas Adistar Cushion 5 is made from the most durable synthetics and heavy-duty rubber to ensure the survival of your species for a long time to come. The long-lasting, supportive adidas Adistar Cushion 5 is something no Runnus Longdistancus should be without.

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent Long Run Shoe, March 1, 2007
This review is from: adidas Men's adiStar Cushion Running Shoe (Apparel)
This is a shoe that does not stop. Excellent cushy feel even after long runs of over two hours. I'm a large runner and when I started going on training runs of over 11 miles I could start to feel the jarring (in my heels especially). I used to wear the Supernova classics and SC2 which I still do as my second shoe but this is the way for long runs. Very comfortable out of the box and relatively light for a shoe of it's kind (neutral cushioning plus).

4.0 out of 5 stars Cushioned, light, neutral shoe, March 24, 2008

Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
Purchased the AdiSTAR to see how they differed from my favorite shoe, the Adidas Supernova cushion. They are a touch lighter (feel-wise, don't know the exact weight difference) and share much of the same technology ("foremotion," materials) and shape (good heel and larger toe box). Although I really enjoy these shoes (comfort, fit), I use them as a race day, or long weekend run shoe, with the Supernovas logging slightly more milage. For some reason, I always feel a bit less beat up (knees, shins) with the 'Novas. For a heavier runner like me (200lbs) the combo I've outlined above seems to work.
