Excellent Long Run Shoe,
This review is from: adidas Men's adiStar Cushion Running Shoe (Apparel)
This is a shoe that does not stop. Excellent cushy feel even after long runs of over two hours. I'm a large runner and when I started going on training runs of over 11 miles I could start to feel the jarring (in my heels especially). I used to wear the Supernova classics and SC2 which I still do as my second shoe but this is the way for long runs. Very comfortable out of the box and relatively light for a shoe of it's kind (neutral cushioning plus).

Purchased the AdiSTAR to see how they differed from my favorite shoe, the Adidas Supernova cushion. They are a touch lighter (feel-wise, don't know the exact weight difference) and share much of the same technology ("foremotion," materials) and shape (good heel and larger toe box). Although I really enjoy these shoes (comfort, fit), I use them as a race day, or long weekend run shoe, with the Supernovas logging slightly more milage. For some reason, I always feel a bit less beat up (knees, shins) with the 'Novas. For a heavier runner like me (200lbs) the combo I've outlined above seems to work.

I actually had this shoe before for a good 8 months before I finally wore them out, and replaced them with the Nike Air Max 360 (got them real cheap). Let me tell you, the Adistar is ten times better. While the Nike's are more cushioned, they are much heavier, and overall not as comfortable. They actually have cause me some pain on the bridge of my foot. Plus the Nike's, are not as nearly as durable as the Adidas. I am actually going to buy another pair of the Adistars because they are that good.

Great shoe,

I have finally found a running shoe worth its price. I have started run again, recovering from a broken ankle, and the shoe provides outstanding stability/comfort. My ankle is not sore as much as it has been in my Nike's and my distance and time has been increasing because of this. Excellent shoe for any runner, especially if you are a heavier runner such as myself (210Ibs)

Wow. I got one of the best rated running shoe for just over thirty dollars delivered. My only beef is that by the time I put them on and realized how well they fit and feel on the road, the sale was gone. I would've bought at least two more pair.

After many years of competitive sports and the punishment to knees, ankles etc. that entailed I had settled into the typical 50-60 hour work week grind alot of us fall into. But spending too much time working doesnt keep you in shape and I knew I needed to get back to taking care of my health. Running is easy enough and a good way to relieve stress. I went to a local store that specializes in fitting runners with the right shoe (very important if you want to stick with an excercise routine!) rather than Footlocker,Champs etc. I tried on 3 other pair after they checked my stride, running profile and gait and these were the ones I liked best for my profile. They even let me run in them for a few miles and could bring them back for exchange if I didnt like them. This store usually encourages buyers to avoid Nike,Adidas and the traditional big name brands but they want each customer to find the best shoe for them, nothing against any brand but they dont want the brand with the best marketing to be the one to sway you to their product.I am a neutral runner that was looking for a lightweight, durable shoe that has plenty of cushion. If this sounds like you you cannot beat it even spending much more. If your shoes arent comfortable, you will quit running simple as that. But no matter what you do, if you are serious about getting back in shape, go to a knowledgeable running store in your area and let them help you find what suits your needs. And if you think Nike Shox are good for running you bought into the hype. They look cool, but to get any "spring" from them you will need to be putting about 300lbs. of pressure on them Happy running!

Top notch for ball strikers who supenate,

I've struggled to find a shoe that was as good to me as my adistars. I put just under 500 miles on my first pair training for, and participating in, my first half marathon.I ball strike - land on the ball of my foot, roll onto the heel, and then take off again. I needed shoes with adequate amounts of forefoot cushioning. I also needed a wide box, great arch support and good accommodations for my supenation, and the shoe delivers on all fronts. My biggest mistake was picking up a pair of Asics GT-2120s instead of just ordering another pair of adistars. Never making that mistake again! |
