As a loyal customer of Adidas, I am totally disappointed with the new Superstar 3G. I have owned 4 pair of the Superstar 2G which were perfect - deserving a solid 5 star rating. I am male, 200 pounds, athletic and exercise daily and wear 11.5 to 12 size shoes.

The problem in the design of the 3G is the top strap of the slide sandal. On the 3G, they shortened the width of the strap, slightly moved it forward, and took out the extended curvature that brought the strap to the mid arch of the foot. What will happen with the 3G is that your foot slides as you walk since the strap is not holding your foot in place. This sliding causes improper pronation and will hurt your foot, ankle, knee, and even the hip. Most people will desist using it before this happens. There a couple of reviews where this has been pointed out. The 2G prevented this from happening because of the extension of the strap going back to the mid arch of the foot.

The quality and finish of the 3G remains outstanding. I would buy 4 pair of the 2G in an instant. It is not available ANYWHERE - even at Adidas.com.

I rarely would write a review, but I am hoping that someone at Adidas reads it and either brings back the 2G or modifies the strap on the 3G to make it identical to the 2G. Adidas seems to have followed the Nike design on the slide which in my opinion would create the same problems.

I bought a pair of these sandals probably about 5 years ago and they kept their cushion, shape and comfort the whole time. It was time to break down and buy a new pair and this new pair, while it has the same name, is certainly not the same sandal I bought 5 years ago. It is stiff, the cushion is less padded and frankly it is downright cheaply made. Adidas should be ashamed to put their name on it...and for the price I paid! Interestingly, the first sandal was made in China while the second sandal was made in Vietnam. I wonder if changing manufacturing plants has anything to do with it. So disappointed...

This is the first adidas slipper thoroughly let me down.

Pros: Looks great, nice and light-weight

Cons: You are constantly sliding in the shoe if not walking on flat road. After wearing this shoe for about 2 hours the soles of my feet were aching in pain. I tried wearing these a few times after and but they were too uncomfortable and painful.

After wearing my Adidas 2G slides for 4.5 years, I decided it was time for a replacement. While I was generally happy with those slides, there was on irritating design flaw -- inadequate Velcro closure strength. This weakness appears to have been rectified with the latest generation, the Superstar 3G. When the previous shoes would occasionally tear open, it would lead to a rapid slip of the foot and painful kick into a wall or desk. It is nice to have this problem go away.

Both generations of slides have been used entirely indoors and until recently, always on carpeting. It is surprising that the 2G slide soles exhibited significant wear on the soles within a few years of use. While only time will tell how durable the new version is, the soles are equally as soft. Oddly, and somewhat counterintuitive, both generations exhibit poor traction on new laminate flooring. The problem is dramatically worse with the slightest amount of dust. The problem partially lies with the floor material but the slipping isn't nearly as bad with traditional cross trainers or even dress shoes.

Overall, the Adidas 3G slides are well-made and comfortable. The Velcro flap accommodates wide feet and remains firmly attached, which is a welcome improvement.

Pros
Improved Velcro closure strength (vs. 2G)
Comfortable padding
Solid overall construction

Cons
Poor traction on laminate flooring

For years I purchased the adidas ss2g sandal. They were heavenly. The adidas 3g is the opposite. I do not understand why adidas would phase out a popular, comfortable sandal and replace it with one that is extremely UNCOMFORTABLE. I definitely do NOT recommend this product.

These are incredibly comfortable but not on hot days. I had the Adissage Supercloud Slides and they were awesome for so long but I wore them for so long that the "cloud" was lost. They started to hurt my feet with no support. I like to wear these just around the house, all the time basically. If I go to the store I wear them. These are great for the winter time since they're not as cool as the other ones. I wear them with a pair of socks very comfortably, they're like slippers but your feet can still breathe in them.

Anyway, in summer time these things get sticky and caused me to get athletes foot. Maybe I should have been cleaning them or spraying the foam with some freshener but I feel like that kind of maintenance for some slides is not what I want. They were stinking and I didn't realize that it was just from the sweat and bacteria in the foam so I still wore them at times but that was a mistake. I'm going to keep these for winter time but no way I'd wear them barefoot or without socks. If you plan on that then be prepared to spray them after everyday use. I'll stick with the other slides that are better for sweaty feett and will not make your feet more sweaty. It's just natural for this foam to get soaked with sweat.

I bought a pair of the same sandals 1 year ago in a department store, and it feels like walking on clouds in them because of the softness.
These however do not have the same "thick" softness as I was expecting.
The reason probably being (after having read the other reviews) that my old sandals are model 2G and this one is 3G.
So if you have experience with 2G then this new model is a let-down

comfy, so comfy. The interior lining is great and they are washable with soap and water. White with black stripes looks better than black with white stripes. These are superior to the old ones which had the little knobs on the sole for 'comfort'. They run wide, at least in larger sizes. I bought one size smaller because too big slides results in tripping and falling sometimes.

My old Superstars had finally worn out past the point where I could wear them anymore. They did last through several years of constant use, both around the house and while at the beach, including long walks up and down the boardwalk, and they remained comfortable despite the "fit foam" finally starting to break down recently, so I definitely feel I got my money's worth out of them, so I ordered another pair in the same size without a second thought.

I was annoyed to discover that Adidas has redesigned these sandals. The foam no long extends to the very edge of the rubber sole, but rather curls under with at least a half-inch of toe-real estate wasted, making it feel like my foot was sliding out of the front of them whenever I tried to walk. Also, despite being the same size, these new ones were considerably narrower, and the new cushion design makes them feel shorter under your foot as well. Perhaps a size up will fix most of my concerns, but really, I don't know why you'd mess with a good thing.

It's not like they really look any different than before while wearing them, they're just not as comfortable.

I recently lost a pair of Adidas 2G sandals while on vacation. I sought these out as a replacement as they are very similar. They feel a bit more snug than my old pair buy that may be because that need to broken in. Full disclosure, I have pretty wide feet. The foot bed is extremely comfortable and these are my go to shoes for the beach or walking around the house
