Did you ever wonder about how the Phantom of the Opera might have felt? Did you ever consider what would happen if Frankenstein's successor were to revive the resurrectionist himself, albeit inadvertently? Did you ever think about what really happened the night Howard Phillips Lovecraft died? If so, buy this book. Ligotti is a master of the art of the short horror story, and these twice-told tales are no exception. It's not just reading about Nathan Wingate Peaslee waking up to the apocalypse, you ARE Nathan Wingate Peaslee waking up to the apocalypse. I know this collection is terribly rare and very expensive, but some of Ligotti's other collections are available online for $7.00 or less. So check him out. You life is ony so long. Or perhaps, like the young man in "The Ever-Vigilant Guardians of Secluded Estates", it is all too long...

I've only read a few pieces from this, but what I saw I really liked... some of the best Ligotti. However, paying nearly $500 for a used copy is WAY beyond my budget. So, if there are any publishers of good horror literature out there reading this, PLEASE release a new edition of this book! (Ligotti's work seems to be trickling back into publication... so maybe there's hope). Thank you.

(If you haven't read Ligotti before, give Teatro Grottesco a try. Easily available in paperback, and probably my favorite book of his.)

A new edition of The Agonizing Resurrection of Victor Frankenstein, and Other Gothic Tales will be released in early 2011 by centipede press. It will include a new introduction by Ligotti and illustrations by Harry Morris. Both a deluxe edition and a trade edition will be available.
