Not really necessary,

I put this item on my registry because I thought it would be nice to get all the basic healthcare items in one purchase rather than having to buy them individually. I see now, though, that this item is really not necessary. Between the things the hospital gave me and the other items I received as gifts, the only things left in the kit that I don't have duplicates of are the medicine dispensers and tooth/gum brushes, which certainly don't necessitate purchasing a $20 kit. Save your money and just pick up any miscellaneous item as needed.

Buy smaller kit,

If you must have a "kit," I would suggest buying a smaller, cheaper version. The Safety1st Hospital's Choice kit is only $9.99 and includes the basics...thermometer, nasal aspirator... but in addition it includes a baby nail clipper (the EFB version doesn't). It has a nice small carrying case for a diaper bag. However, I think it would be a better investment overall to buy a high-quality thermometer, because it is something you will need for a long time, and buy the other things you may need separately.

Crap,

The thermometer is horribly inaccurate. The medicine dispensers come with the medicine, so that's useless. I got 3 bulb syringes and 3 combs from the hospital. Everything else bought separately would be cheaper.
