A forgotten classic sound,

The GoodA serine string section and somber acoustic guitar chords drive the opening track about hope entitled "Bird". The electric solo section only enhances the tune. "Downtown" is a mixture of fuzzy tones and faded echoed vocals. The track starts with a simple vox and guitar arrangement, but kicks it up a notch when the drums and bass kick in. The vocals on "Somebody" are deep and somewhat haunting. It's sung from the point of view of someone who just wants to be loved, by anybody. He reveals that he spends his life depressed and drunk because of it. "Party Girl" combines simple but effective guitar riffs with effects heavy keyboard tones. Toast plays around with some vocal effects during the bridge section. "Mr. Spider" is by far my favorite track on the album. It's lead by an ample chugga-chugga riff and it's loaded with plenty of metaphor to get your brain working. You know that really deep and weird track that was on the B-side of your favorite seventies rock record? That would be "White Boy". The Bad The low registering, psychedelic-styled, weathered vocals take a bit of getting used to. The Verdict It's easy to see that the seventies alternative rock scene influenced the band. Toast isn't treading any new musical ground with All In, but they are retreading a forgotten classic sound...and that's not a bad thing.
