My 10 month old was closing all of the pop up animals at 9 months and just started pushing the button in the middle and one of the slides. He hasn't caught on to the other little latches to open them yet though. Hopefully that helps you decide what age is appropriate. :)

No music. This is my 19 month old sons favorite toy lately though. He can manage all the buttons on his own now except the twist switch on number 4. Fun watching him figure them out one by one.

It's kind of loud when they pop up. I don't know how long it would keep a baby busy and it's kind of bulky to bring along. I would suggest little people books with flaps, touch and feel books, Water wow books from Melissa and Doug, lots of snacks, and an aisle seat. Good luck!
