When you soak the filter in a tall glass, the filter should sink to the bottom and be upright. The filter should not try to float with its upper quarter above the water. Try whacking the sides of the filter to rearrange the particles. Push the filter down into the water to "drown" it; you should see air bubbles escape. Repeat until the filter sinks rather than floats. Then you should soak the filter for 15 minutes. see less

PUR filter dimensions are 7.9 x 7.6 x 2.7 inches and the Brita filter dimensions are 7.1 x 5.4 x 2.4 inches.
While they may fit in the other pitchers, a tight fit is considerably important in filters as if there's any gap, water will go in-between the cracks. So the answer would be no.

I don't think the color of the filter would make any difference, just the diameter and style of attachment collar. There is really no way to tell for sure unless you take some measurements and post a close up photograph.
