Hi, we were having problems with Chromecast until we enabled "Enable IGMP Snooping". This setting is under "Advanced Settings -> Wireless -> Professional" tab at http://192.168.1.1/. Since enabling this, Chromecast has been working flawlessly.

I have not needed to do a reboot for any issue since I got it, and I'm a moderately heavy data user. Last reboot was over 6 months ago, due to a Cable Modem replacement.

It all depends, but I would use the speed test app On your device or the website. And move the distance away from your router and run it, you will see what your band with is.
