Misunderstood what product you were asking about. Forget other answer, was thinking of a different product. Yes, it works with a smart TV. This is just a WiFi range extender, works with anything that uses WiFi, smart TV, PC, smart phone, etc.

It's extending mine by at least 25 feet. It would probably go much further. I just needed it to extend range to 2 room that were out of range of my router. Both those rooms and the deck on the back of my house get a strong signal, now. They had no signal, previously.

This device does not change your SSID. It is only a booster for your internet signal. If you accessed your shared drives throughout the house before the unit was installed then you should be able to do it after the unit was installed.

Try resetting the range extender by turning it off then on. If that doesn't work then turn off and on all devices including your router and all end devices. Hope this works.
