Yes but you'll need a second amp with Pre amp In. My old amp was a Luxman L480 and it has Pre out Main In.
Zone 2 works like a pre amp out to trigger the "main" amp in another unit. That's how it works.

I wish I could help you but my receiver did not work long enough to answer that question. I was never able to get help for Onkyo or Amazon to get it fixed. It's been setting in my supply room over a year.

it can be. There's a menu item in the setup menu called "HDMI Setup". In there you can enable pass through for one source at a time.
