The WU-1b uses wifi to allow you to connect to it with a free Nikon app. If you connect your smartphone or tablet to it's wifi connection using the app you will be able to; control the camera to take photos remotely (allows you to see through the viewfinder on the camera from your connected device), review the photos that are on your camera from your connected device (smartphone, tablet, etc), and upload photos from your camera to your connected device. Once images are selected using your smartphone or tablet you can easily email or share them to get them to your computer. I find the device useful and functional. see less
