I've had it attached to our Mac, which uses both a wireless mouse and wireless keyboard, and have had no trouble after a year of use.

I continued using the other two, until the second one came off and sparked. I thought I had damaged my USB memory card; fortunately it didn't. I unplugged it and threw it away. I bought the AUKEY USB 3.0 7 Ports Aluminum hub, it arrived DOA (non-functional). Returning it soon. see less

I have mine plugged into an Airport Time Capsule and I just tried plugging in 2x 500G WD Passport HD, and I also have 2 powered 3.5" Hard drives plugged into it. It worked fine.

Simply put: Yes.
I have mine plugged into an Airport Time Capsule and I just tried plugging in 2x 500G WD Passport HD, and I also have 2 powered 3.5" Hard drives plugged into it. It worked fine.
From the list of things that you were concerned about, the WD Passport hard drive would take the most power and would probably be the biggest problem but I had no issues at all with it.
Sometimes some USB ports on laptops and PCs are a little finicky about power, but the problem won't be with this hub. see less
