The 12.2 can also multitask with four windows versus only 2 on the 10.1. This is due to the larger screen though.
*The back on the note 12.2 seems a little more leather-like than the back on the 10.1. It seems softer and a little more grippy. This isn't really much though.
*The metal surround on the 12.2 looks a little more like metal than that of the 10.1.
*these last two differences are only noticeable if you have both devices side by side* see less

I've noticed that turning off wifi also cuts down on recharge time and greatly increased standby time when the tablet is not in use for hours at a time. i'll update this post with more info when i charge mine from 5-10% to full, as i haven't brought it down that far yet. keep in mind that this is quite a large capacity battery (9,500 mAh) hence the 13 hour use time without charging, compared to the recent iPad Air's 8,800 mAh/10 hour battery. its going to need some time to get back up to fully charged. see less

Answer:
In addition to the OTG solution mentioned, you can also use a Bluetooth keyboard without any cables or adapters. (edit: after I typed this, I noticed that C. Carmona already added that info to the original answer via a comment. I'm leaving this answer in case someone doesn't notice the comment and read it).

Yes, I have owned the tablet for a week now. When writing notes with my s-pen, I have no problems resting my hand directly on the screen. I love this tablet.
