Review
"Awareness to Action helps people identify and correct the fatal flaws that can derail so many careers. It takes you step by step through a process that helps you work from your strengths, stay on track, and reach your potential."--Michele Abel, AVP, Human Resources, CIGNA (Michele Abel )

"Tallon and Sikora hit the mark with this book. Performance improvement in sales management, or any area involves more than knowing yourself; it involves acknowledging your strenghts and weaknesses, taking responsibility for your behavior, and taking results-oriented action. This book shows exactly how to do that. A must read for every manager and every employee."--Don Johnson, Regional Vice President, achieveglobal (Don Johnson )

"By combining emotional intelligence with the nine personality types of the Enneagram the authors have created an accurate and useful map to high performance and success. I can''t think of anyone who would not benefit from this book."--Mary Kate Harkins, Manager, Human Resources, GlaxoSmithKline (Mary Kate Harkins )

"Awareness to Action provides simple and practical pointers for individuals, as well as important team building insights that will enable organizations to create more productive and balanced teams."--Tom Forst Corporate Vice President, Lincoln Investment Planning, Inc. (Tom Forst )

"Bulls-eye accurate in its assessment of what holds people back from reaching their full potential and extremely helpful in its recommendations. This book can save your career. Perfect for self-coaching or for people involved in coaching others. I highly recommend it."--Steve Metzman, CEO, Quaker City Chemicals (Steve Metzman )

"This book represents years of application of the Enneagram in actual work settings. It is real, not theoretical. Its strenth lies in teh authors'' understanding of how people behave in the office, rather than in a classroom or in workshops. Tallon and Sikora show how individuals are capable of growth in effectiveness at work, in life, and within their own personality."--Ed Zakrzewski, director, Leadership, Learning and Performance, Broadband Communications Sector, MOTOROLA (Ed Zakrzewski )

Product Description
Are you a helper or an achiever? A challenger or a peacemaker? Awareness to Action explores the nine distinct, yet interconnected personality types of Enneagram theory, which uses a nine-pointed figure to illustrate the relationship between an individual’s dominant personality and the other types that comprise the structure. Mario Sikora and Robert Tallon explain the characteristics of each personality and show how a person can capitalize on their strengths and weaknesses, charting a specific course for personal growth. They discuss practical topics such as relationship building, conflict resolution, and personal development, information that will not only be of interest to individuals seeking a greater understanding of self, but to managers and human resource professionals as well.

5.0 out of 5 stars A pragmatic, business-friendly model for using the Enneagram, June 28, 2008
By Jeffrey Keimer "Jeff K" (Portola Valley CA) - See all my reviews
(REAL NAME)
I've been a student of the Enneagram since 2000, seeking how to best use this powerful mental model in the business environment. This book has the best presentation I've found for that purpose. It is very pragmatic and "business friendly". I like what one of its authors, Mario Sikora, wrote in a recent article:

"While the needs of my business audience have shaped the model of the Enneagram I present, I consider it a model for pragmatists--people who are seeking growth but uninterested in the mystical, psychospiritual elements so often associated with the Enneagram...... "Business audiences are not soft audiences, however. In fact, they tend to be challenging and skeptical .... They sniff out inaccuracy, inconsistency, and fuzziness and will either tune you out ... or they will turn on you like sharks that sniff blood. If you can spend a day teaching the Enneagram to a group of 30 engineers or lawyers and survive, your model is solid."

The Enneagram model this book presents is very "solid" and I recommend it highly.
