Selecting a Digital Indicator on Amazon.com
A digital indicator, also known as an electronic indicator, is a tool that can be used on its own or as part of another device to measure small distances or objects. Though it is sometimes called a digital dial indicator, a digital indicator has a digital readout rather than an analog dial. A digital indicator may display readings in either inch or metric units, or may perform inch-metric conversions. Measuring range, also called total indicator reading (TIR), and resolution are important factors to consider when selecting a digital indicator. Some digital indicators can capture maximum and minimum readings, and may have an output for connecting to a computer for data transfer. A digital indicator, such as one in the Mitutoyo Digimatic series, may have a go/no-go indicator light that signifies an out-of-tolerance reading. Digital indicators are often used for layout, inspection, and quality control applications.
