Universal Pipette Tips
Universal pipette tips are used with a variety of pipettes and pipettors for convenience, and to facilitate processing, protect instruments, and prevent cross-contamination. Most are manufactured to fit a standard-diameter pipette. Standard pipette tips are available sterilized for sensitive testing. Non-sterilized tips are available in trays or bulk bags and can often be autoclaved for reuse. Universal pipette tips are made from a variety of materials including polypropylene, which can be autoclaved. Some are manufactured to be free of RNase, DNase, or endotoxin to ensure that the tips do not introduce chemicals that can affect test results. Graduation marks on some tips provide a means to estimate fluid volume, and racked tips speed processing and allow tips to be changed without handling.
