Filtering pipette tips are used with pipettes to reduce cross-contamination and protect equipment from damaging liquids. While filter-tip pipettes have a filter built into the pipette itself, filter pipette tips fit on the end of the pipette and can be changed and disposed of as required. Aerosol barrier filtered pipette tips are used to reduce sprays that can contaminate instruments or risk exposure to users when testing toxins such as radioactive and infectious samples. Not all filtering pipette tips provide aerosol protection. Some filter pipet tips undergo additional testing to ensure that they meet industry standards, including Particle Count Testing and Mercury Intrusion Testing.
