Selecting a Height Gauge on Amazon.com
A height gauge, or height gage, is a measuring instrument used to calculate the height of an object, or to scribe a series of objects at a precise, consistent point for further work. Height gauges may display their measures on a mechanical counter or dial face, a vernier scale, or in the case of electronic gauges, on a digital display.
Resolution, range, and repeatability are important to consider when selecting a height gauge. Models may offer resolution down to 0.0001" or finer. Zero to 12" is a standard range for scales, but longer and shorter ranges are available for different applications. A digital height gauge may include probes and features to measure or calculate inside diameter, outside diameter, maximum/minimum, steps, displacement, flatness, and other functions.
Height gauges are used to make precise, repeatable measurements in machining, metalworking, mechanical engineering, industrial metrology, and manufacturing. Manufacturers include Mitutoyo.
