About Viceroy

Founded by a family in Switzerland in 1951, the Viceroy Watch company experienced a revitalization when, in 1982, the Spanish company Grupo Munreco acquired its worldwide rights with the intention of reinvigorating the brand for a new, global audience. The spirit of the Viceroy brand is summed up by its current motto – "It’s not what I have, it’s who I am" – introduced in a 2006 ad campaign starring actor Antonio Banderas and pop songstress, Shakira. The phrase means to express that Viceroy is built on integrity, and, like its ambassadors, is self-made.
