An Homage to Bread,
By Megan "Megan" (Massachusetts) - See all my reviews
This review is from: the bakers (Hardcover)
While this book is sort of a children's book, being very short and with lovely illustrations, it's more of a homage to baking bread. Real bread: nourishing, filling, whole-wheat bread. There's only one recipe, and the lovely prose talks you through it, throwing in information about the history of bread and the science of bread.
It's too bad it's out of print: given the current interest in whole grains, and the rising cost of food which is leading to more people cooking from scratch, it's a lovely gift to either a child or an adult who is interested in learning how to bake a perfect loaf of bread. |
