5.0 out of 5 stars BEST "EARTH FRIENDLY" PLATES AVAILABLE
Determined to use earth friendly disposable ware for a wedding, we ordered samples of several different plates. These were by far the sturdiest! They held up beautifully to the soggiest of foods (enchiladas)! Very pleased with the plates and the price is quite reasonable.

1.0 out of 5 stars This is GREENWASHING
Think these plates are good for the environment? Guess again! They contain 0% recycled material -- NOTHING. Not post-consumer, not pre-consumer. And, they are made in China -- HUGE carbon footprint results from the energy of shipping them -- not to mention the human rights issue of trading with China.
Chinet makes a 100% recycled plate, made in USA.

I have been gradually moving away from harmful disposables for parties and receptions. For events at home, I bought inexpensive silverware at Sam's club, #1 plastic cups for beverages for home or receptions and recycle them, and now I've finally found a plate study enough for buffets. The beige color is attractive and the plates are study enough for any hot or cold food. The only down side is that they cost double what a Chinet would cost. But I will continue to buy them.

5.0 out of 5 stars Renewable, possibly usable in compost, January 15, 2011

These wooden (bamboo) plates are almost reusable, and in fact I do reuse them in several ways; feeding our dogs with them right from the table on occasion with leftover table scraps along with their regular diet; serving a dish or bulk salad in them, then using the plate for a next meal; and starting our wood stove with them instead of paper. I'm betting they can be used well in your compost pile. They are sturdy and large enough for a full-size meal. My next order will be a case.

i ordered a case of these for a party, and had no regrets. They look good and hold up very well. i ordered Stalkmarket plates for another party, and will not make the mistake of going cheap again. Back to Bare :-)

These plates are fantastic. Similar in weight to chinette heavy duty paper plates but from a renewable resource. I highly recommend them. We used them for a 60-person party which included things with sauces and knives and they were up to the job.

I used these paper plates at my wedding a little over two years ago and they worked perfect! It was a potluck style outdoor wedding and these plates held up wonderfully! No leaks, no tearing, and they weren't ugly! By the picture, they look green in the center, but they aren't. They are a khaki color all over. Great plates for any occasion!

Bought these plates for a party. Guests liked that they were recycled. The color is fine, it's a little more cream in real life than the photo. They are study, and hold up to food fine.
