This video is a live recording of a tango show that takes place only once a year in Buenos Aires. This particular show took place March 13th, 2000 during the annual international Congress of Argentine Tango, which features the best professional Tango teachers and dancers that Argentina has to offer to the world. The video captures 16 of the best performances by 8 distinct couples: Gustavo Naveira and Giselle Anne, Mariano "Chicho" Frúmboli and Lucía Mazer, Eduardo Capussi and Mariana Flores, Julio Balmaceda and Corina de la Rosa, Rodolfo and Maria Cieri, Esteban Moreno and Claudia Codega, Rodolfo and Gloria Dínzel, Fernanda Ghi and Guillermo Merlo.

This video is very good in a sense that it demonstrates the true Argentine Tango, which is rarely seen in the USA. Some of the performances are simply amazing. It is not an instructional video, but a recording of a live show in a theater. The not so good part of this video is the fact that some of the scenes are too dark for being able to truly enjoy the magnificent dancers. It makes no sense to compare this video to a movie or an instructional video. There is absolutely nothing on the market to compare this video to. It is definitely unique and well worth the price.

I loved this video. Maybe because I love Argentine Tango. There is so much individuality expressed by each of the eight couples, that it seems like Tango has no limits. This dance is for everyone. It has everything to satisfy anybody's taste. The quality of dancers in this show is world-class. It is hard to imagine how it can get much better, but somehow I believe that most of these couples have not reached their peaks yet. Marvelous video!

This video is full of dances that are pure pleasure. Although this is not an instructional video, it will benefit tango dancers of all skill levels, from beginners (with no experience) to instructors (with several years of experience). Why? Not because they will quickly learn the tango floorcraft or proper leading and following skills, but because this video demonstrates incredibly complicated figures performed by super advanced dancers. Just seeing the enormous variety of styles and choreographies will change viewer's perception of what real Tango is and should be. Clearly the best Tango dancers are still in Argentina and we all need to learn from them.
