This review is from: The best supernatural tales of Algernon Blackwood (Hardcover)
I discovered Blackwood as an author by his being compared to H.P. Lovecraft. They do NOT have a similar style or even focus for their work IMHO, but that does not mean that if you like the one, you won't the other. Blackwood is more of a spiritualistic even perhaps animistic writer, and his works are not dark like Lovecraft's, but still very much worth reading. He tends to focus more on discovery and understanding, and less on conflict and fear. Good book.
