Maria Bethania's ode to the life and works of Vinicius de Moraes embarks you in a journey that delves into the profound connection these two great artists had.The sad MODINHA opens the album giving way to other uptempo tracks.In the realm of romantic music,she connects with every listener via moving balladas such as MINHA NAMORADA,VOCE E U and also BOM DIA TRISTEZA.Her voice shines in her renditions of A FELICIDADE and TARDE EM ITAPOA.Interesting is the presence of NATURE BOY translated into Portuguese by Betha's brother Caetano Veloso.Her interpretations of the great poet works have already secured her top ten slots in the different Brazilian and Portuguese hit parades last week because of the balance between her pasionate contralto singing and her well known dramatic style in the CD.
Such trait is obvious in my favorite O MAIS QUE PERFEITO and in the samba SAMBA DE BENCAO.Play this album a few times with someone special and soon you'll know Bethania is back as Cupid enters the room
