Works well.,

This is my first aquarium cleaner since I'm new to the hobby. I didn't like the idea of putting my mouth on a hose, so I thought I'd give this pump-action one a try. It was easy to use and did the job well. It took only a few pumps to get the water flowing out of the tank and into a bucket, and it seemed to do a good job of cleaning the gravel as well. I used it on a 10-gallon tank made by another company. I would recommend this item.

This pump takes a few good, hard squeezes to get it going, but then it works quickly. Good suctioning of the fish doo-doo and surprised me how fast my tanks emptied. I had to be real careful on the 1 gallon one!

Makes aquarium cleaning a breeze!,

I used to have a regular siphon to clean my tank and I had a hard time getting it to start at first (I had to learn how to use it through a few YouTube videos). But this siphon makes it SUPER easy! All you have to is pump it a few times and it starts! And honestly, I HATE cleaning my aquarium...but now I don't mind anymore!

I just received my pump today, and like Stravia, mine also is not the "BiOrb" brand pump, but a cheap Chinese knock-off. It seems to be missing the extension piece that comes with the actual BiOrb pump. I have not used it yet, but it seems very flimsy and cheap, and I almost expect it to break or cease to function within the year. This is not what I paid for. I am very unhappy with this purchase.

The product is not a BiOrb product but instead a Chinese knockoff. I couldn't read any of the text on the cardboard because it wasn't in English. However, it does the job nicely and functions perfectly well. So far, I'm completely satisfied with this. It only got 4 stars because the picture is wrong and it's not the brand it claims to be.

I bought this to use on a regular 10 gallon (non-BiOrb) tank. It's a lot easier than my old gravel vacuum to get the water started. I also bought a 5 gallon bucket at Walmart to use with this cleaner. I just siphon the water into the bucket right below, which makes cleaning a piece of cake. Then, I re-use the water by watering my plants and trees outside because I figure there should be some nutrients in it (I could be totally wrong though, never researched it). It's definitely not as powerful as my old standard gravel vacuum. This is mainly because there is a plastic "net" on the gravel end which prevents gravel from entering the tube. The problem I have is that the gravel sticks to the net when water is flowing and obstructs the hole for the nasty stuff to go in. I just have to shake the hose a lot to make the gravel fall off the pump. Overall, this pump does a pretty good job and is very easy to use.

It all started when my son brought home a 12-cent goldfish ... $80 of fish equipment later, it was finally time to perform some water change. I first bought a normal siphon from the pet store but, despite following directions to the T, the water never did start flowing and, instead, dredged up tons of debris from under the rocks. I was getting desperate. I decided to give the BiOrb siphon a try, even though we don't have a BiOrb tank. It works like a dream! It takes only a couple of squeezes of the pump to get the water flowing. Changing the water is now a pleasure, rather than the dreaded chore it once was. Worth every penny!

Broke after 1 use,
This review is from: biOrb Cleaner Pump (Misc.)
I used this pump to clean my turtle's tank and the first time I was so amazed that it sucked up all of the water into a big bucket and eliminated 50 trips of heavy water carrying into the bathroom sink. However, it only took until the second use for 3 tiny holes to crack in its ridges. No amount of tape, glue, or force could make it suck any water from that moment on. It wasn't even Biorb brand btw. Useless device..

Probably the best tank emptying pump there is for this price. Easy to start hand pump siphon. Very fast tank water change. Even has a small suction cup to hold it at the right depth in the tank while you start the siphon. I use a different pump for cleaning gravel since the suction is so strong on this one. Would highly recommend this for frequent water changes.
