More About the Author

James Hugh Donohoe, born Waverley NSW Australia, in 1941 was a career public servant with a keen interest in Australian, American and British History and family genealogy. James has focused research particularly on the Australian Convicts and Colonial era Migrants, especially in the period 1787 to 1829, as well as the British Army personnel who served in Australia to 1870. James also has an interest in the Bushrangers (Outlaws). However, his sympathies lie more with the convicts, most of whom were the unfortunate products of their times and until 1828 were survivors from the gallows where the British punished their violent criminals and thieves including many convicted of petty offences who would not even receive a prison sentence in today's law courts let alone forfeit their lives. James studies the Bushrangers for family history purposes rather than as a general interest. He perceives the Bushrangers as self-enriching rural terrorist unworthy of any sympathy who chose their destiny. James holds that the real history of Australia is yet to be written. James feels that Writers in the main do not delve deeply enough to support many of the conclusions drawn by Historians. James endeavours within family, employment and time constraints to develop consolidated and uniform indexes that can help anyone channel their research efforts along their desired paths. James has also written several novels based on the images of the people he has encountered as he researches as well as several texts.
