Editorial Reviews

From AudioFile

Stephen Thorne is a marvelous reader! The Poldark series has been filmed for PBS, so you may be familiar with the story. Don't let that keep you from listening to this audiobook. Late eighteenth-century Cornwall comes to life with Thorne's excellent narration, and he's a master of dialect. The everyday occurrences, as well as the conflicts and the war with France, provide an interesting background for the interaction between the Poldark and Warleggan families. The book itself is character driven; however, Thorne gives each one an individuality the listener can relate to. Anyone whose taste runs to historical fiction is sure to enjoy listening to this novel. D.M.W. (c)AudioFile, Portland, Maine --This text refers to the Audio Cassette edition.
