Reppetto chronicals the evolution of policing in the USA through the 1700's to the 20th century. Insight into how various agencies and regions have diverged and come together again. The author relates how trends in American law enforcement have come and gone, and how local and regional political process plays a part. This 1970's vintage book is timely in the 90's and beyond.
