I'm not sure if it depends on car models or not . . .and since you don't specify which car you have, I can only speak for my car. I have a 2014 Murano that has a USB port. My phone connects to my car's Bluetooth. My NANO could connect to the Bluetooth as well, though it keep it plugged into the USB port and my car system allows me to access albums, artists, songs and playlists via the display screen on the dash. Works perfectly.
