Sony Alpha SLT-A57 16.1 MP Exmor APS HD CMOS Sensor DSLR with Translucent Mirror Technology and 3D Sweep Panorama (Body Only) (OLD MODEL)
Used & New from: $279.95
A57 body $525, A65 body $675 w/ 2.8 16-50mm lens ($599) or A77 Kit for $1500? I'm deciding which one to buy. I'm able to get the Sony Alpha A57 body for $525 or the A65 body for $675 both before taxes with my discount... Which should I get? I can't decide... photography is a hobby for me and I'm not even very good at it. I mostly plan on using this for video.

I plan on getting the Kit Lens that comes with the A77 (SAL1650 / 2.8) as well that would cost me $599...

OR I can also just get the A77 with kit lens for $1500. I really can't decide which to purchase, but I'm on a budget so I'm looking for the best bang/quality for the buck.

I have the A65 with the 18-55 kit lens, and it's terrific. I think any of your options would be excellent. I would suggest the A57 or A65 over the a77, unless you're going to need the extra features on the a77, and/or the weatherproof body (i.e if you're shooting on a surfboard). Otherwise, put the extra money into lenses and a tripod.
Question: the SAL1650 is usually $799 retail (it goes for $600 in the A77 package). Do you have a source for it at the %599 price?
In any event, these are really superb cameras.
