This review is from: The Book of Missionary Heroes (Kindle Edition)
I didn't expect much from a free book, but this one caught me off guard. Written like historical fiction, the stories of these missionaries baffled me. Basil takes us on a trip around the world with the various people who touched continents and islands with the message of Christ.Written in 1922, it's not boring in any way. He openly shares successes and failures of people who risk everything for the gospel. Some found great welcome and some were burned alive. He pulls no punches. It made me do some hunting. Could these people be real? Did they really adventure out the way he shares? As far as I've been able to discover, they did. I love hearing about first generation missionaries, but also the adventures of converts who became missionaries, especially within the Pacific Islands. If I can be even a bit like them, I'll happily face my Maker. |
